FDA shuts 4 food units at Morjim
Panaji:
The directorate of food and drugs administration (FDA) directed four premises in Morjim to shut down due to unhygienic operations.
The FDA inspected 21 premises in Morjim and two were fined Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000 for using newspapers to wrap food.
Thirteen food operators were served improvement notices with directions to comply within 14 days.
The FDA also fined M/s Bhakshi Hotel in Khareband, Salcete, Rs 20,000 for non-compliance with deficiencies noted during the June 6 inspection.
The team also reinspected Janta Hotel, Margao, and found most issues resolved, except for the use of food colour. The hotel was directed to discard the item and ensure full compliance. During the reinspection of Dalima Bakery, Colva, the FDA found that deficiencies in the earlier inspection report were not fully complied with.
