World condemns terrorism, stands with India's zero-tolerance: MoS Defence Sanjay Seth

Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], May 26 (ANI): Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Monday said that following Operation Sindoor, the entire world has shown strong support for India's fight against terrorism. Speaking on the global response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Seth said, 'The world is seeing this terrorism. The world condemned the killing of 26 people in the Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan keeps threatening about its nuclear capabilities. It is a country that harbours terrorism.' He added, 'Our MPs are going around the world and telling people about it. The common people of other nations are also suffering from terrorism and are standing with India. The world is standing with PM Modi's resolution of zero-tolerance against terrorism.' Minister of State Sanjay Seth's remarks on global support for India's fight against terrorism echo the efforts of Indian leaders like Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya. Currently touring the Americas, this Indian All-Party Parliamentary Delegation met with Bharrat Jagdeo, Vice President of Guyana, to reinforce India's zero-tolerance stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo, a respected statesman who served 12 years as President of Guyana, strongly condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack and expressed firm support for India's Operation Sindoor. Reflecting this shared commitment, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya said, 'Our delegation met with Vice President of Guyana, H.E. Bharrat Jagdeo, and spoke to him on a wide range of issues, including India's fight against terrorism.' This reinforces the growing international solidarity with India's zero-tolerance stance against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Earlier, Surya also addressed students at Texila American University, where he spoke about Bharat's zero-tolerance doctrine towards terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Emphasising India's long-standing battle against cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan, Tejasvi Surya stated, 'The world must unite in calling out state-sponsored terrorism and uphold peace. India, through decisive actions like Operation Sindoor, is at the forefront of this global effort.' This message was delivered by the Indian All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, part of the Group of 5 led by Shashi Tharoor. The group includes MPs from across party lines--Shambhavi (LJP - Ram Vilas), Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmad (JMM), G.M. Harish Balayogi (TDP), Shashank Mani Tripathi (BJP), Bhubaneswar Kalita (BJP), Milind Deora (Shiv Sena - Shinde faction), Tejasvi Surya (BJP)--and Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Together, they represent a united front in India's diplomatic campaign to rally global support against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. This initiative is part of the Government of India's multi-country campaign to take India's strong stance against terrorism to the world and to seek broader support for its efforts to combat Pakistan-sponsored terror on the global stage. Earlier, while speaking to ANI on the visit of the Indian delegation to Guyana, VP Bharrat Jagdeo offered support to India in the fight against terrorism. The Vice President underscored the need to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorist activities and also appreciated the visit of the Indian delegation to Guyana. Speaking to ANI after the meeting with the Vice-President of Guyana, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, 'It was a phenomenal meeting.' Tharoor also noted that the discussions involved talks on the bilateral ties between India and Guyana. The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor comprises of Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, Bhubaneswar K Lata (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena) and Former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. "Guyana stands unequivocally with India", says Vice-President Bharrat Jagdeo

Georgetown [Guyana], May 26 (ANI): Vice President of Guyana, Bharrat Jagdeo offered support to India in the fight against terrorism. The Vice President underscored the need to bring to justice the perpetrators of terrorist activities and also appreciated the visit of the Indian delegation to Guyana. While speaking to ANI, Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo said, 'It was an excellent visit. I assured the delegation that Guyana stands unequivocally with India. We are against terrorism and we believe that all those who perpetrate terrorist activities must be brought to justice. We are happy that the delegation came from India to Guyana'. The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor met the Vice-President of Guyana after their arrival earlier on Sunday (local time). The all-party delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor comprises of Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayagi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, Bhubaneswar K Lata (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena) and Former Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu. The members of the Indian community and the Indian diaspora in Guyana welcomed the all-party delegation with a resounding applause and enthusiasm. Hailing India's response against acts of terror perpetuated by Pakistan, the members of the Indian community expressed their heartfelt support. While addressing the Indian diaspora upon arrival in Georgetown, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, 'Our message is very clear. We have to stand against terrorism wherever it comes. We have to not only bring the evil killers to justice, but we must also seriously challenge those who are financing them, training them, equipping them, directing them to do their evil.' BJP MP Tejsavi Surya had said, 'The objective of the mission is to communicate to the world and amplify India's message of zero tolerance against Pakistani terrorism. For almost seven decades India has suffered Pakistan sponsored terrorism. While India aims to strengthen itself, lift millions out of poverty and contribute positively to the growth and well-being of the world, it is constantly distracted and needled by Pakistan's terrorism... Across political parties, across regions of India, all members of parliament have come here to express India's solidarity in one voice against terrorism. And in this interconnected global world, one nation's inaction against terrorism can actually be a threat to all nations. Therefore, this is not just an India problem, but this is a global problem because most of the terrorist attacks all over the world, whether it was the London bombings, the Easter bombings in Sri Lanka, the Paris attacks, the 9/11 in United States, all investigations have shown that in some way or the other, directly or indirectly, Pakistan is involved in some way. Therefore, Pakistan's terrorist infrastructure is a threat not just to its immediate neighborhood, but to the rest of the world.' The all-party delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. Guyana's tax agency to begin dispute resolution with Exxon over expenses

GEORGETOWN, March 6 (Reuters) - Guyana's Natural Resources ministry has ordered the country's tax agency to begin a dispute resolution with Exxon Mobil (XOM.N), opens new tab over the recovery of some $214 million in expenses registered by the U.S. oil major. Expenses reported by Exxon as part of its operations at the massive Stabroek offshore block are closely monitored because a consortium led by the U.S. major can take and export up to 75% of the crude it produces as "cost oil", while Guyana's government is entitled to half of the remaining barrels. The government has followed mechanisms included in the contract to have the expenses audited by external consultancy firms and determine if they were correctly reported. The ministry's request follows the completion of an audit by U.S.-based consultancy IHS Markit covering expenses in the 1999-2017 period, which was reviewed by the government. "The Guyana Revenue Authority provided to the ministry a 'no objection' to IHS' recommendation to adjust the cost bank by $214.4 million. This position remains unchanged and clear, and Exxon was so advised," the ministry said in a release. Exxon did not immediately reply to a request for comment. By the end of January, the Exxon-led consortium, which controls all oil and gas output in Guyana, had recovered $33.9 billion of the $41.1 billion spent in the area, the country's Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo, told Reuters last week. A second audit ordered by the government to firm VHE Consulting covering expenses from 2018 to 2020 is still ongoing, the ministry said, adding that Exxon replied on its initial findings and VHE is now reviewing the response.
