Now, sports facility for specially abled kids in Gurgaon
Gurgaon:
Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar
on Wednesday pointed to an improvement in the condition of specially abled individuals in recent years, reflecting the govt's "commitment to inclusivity".
While addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of a multipurpose hall at the sports stadium in Daulatabad village (Gurgaon), Khattar said, "A study indicates there are about 1.5 million children in the country with developmental challenges.

These children have the extraordinary ability to overcome their shortcomings and contribute to society and national service, improving their lives." The multipurpose sports facility has been exclusively built for the specially abled.
He said since approximately 75% of specially abled sports talents come from rural areas, the multipurpose hall at the sports stadium in the city will be a "decisive initiative".
The efforts made by the
Special Olympics Bharat
organisation, which organised the event, symbolise a holistic approach to empowering specially abled individuals and ensuring their full participation in all aspects of life and overall well-being, the Union minister said.
Khattar said every individual in human life strives for happiness. "If one takes a step to assist a needy or differently-abled person and integrate them into the mainstream of society, it brings immense joy," he said.
Union minister and Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh and Haryana minister Rao Narbir Singh were also on the guest list but missed the event. Inderjit and Khattar do not share a very good rapport. Narbir had a meeting in Chandigarh, so he could not attend the programme.
Special Olympics Bharat president Mallika Nadda said Haryana is the only state in the country that honours differently-abled athletes, not only by awarding them but also by providing employment opportunities. She said this initiative by the govt serves as an "inspiration" for other states. Nadda lauded Haryana govt for honouring seven differently-abled athletes with the 'Bhim Award'.
"The proposed indoor stadium provide high-quality training facilities to specially abled athletes and enable them to become self-reliant," Nadda said.
