Terming it the lone factory under cooperative sector in the State, Mr. Babji along with party activists staged a protest near the factory. He said its revival with modern technology would benefit thousands of sugarcane farmers in the district and also would ensure employment to nearly 500 persons and create economic activity in several villages of Jami and Gantyada mandals of the district. Mr. Babji alleged that the government had not taken steps to clear PF, gratuity and other benefits of the workers who lost employment five years ago after the closure of the factory. He said that many workers were unable to meet both ends in the absence of retirement benefits which were supposed to be paid as per the Labour Acts.
