Orange Line Delay? Metro May Miss July Deadline

Bhopal: Bhopal's Metro project is unlikely to meet its July deadline for launching commercial operations. Indore is now anticipated to begin its metro service first, pending an official inauguration date. While Indore's Metro, featuring a shorter priority corridor of five stations, has secured clearances from railway safety authorities, Bhopal's Metro is still awaiting necessary inspections. The inspections from the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) are pending for Bhopal's priority corridor, which includes eight stations. The 7.2 km priority section from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS Bhopal is still under construction. According to a recent Lok Sabha reply, "the physical progress of priority section of length 7.2 km from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS of Bhopal Metro Rail Project is 81.26% and is nearing completion." Sources indicate that the remaining work, approximately 19%, involves the development of metro stations, the depot, and other essential infrastructure. These factors, combined with professional considerations and weather conditions, could contribute to the delay. MPMRCL officials suggest that Bhopal metro may begin commercial operations in Aug. Previously, a MPMRCL senior official had expressed optimism "to commence Bhopal metro passenger service – 7.2 km from Depot to AIIMS Bhopal, by July 2025." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Walmart Photos With a New Level of Detail Old Money Style Undo The priority corridor represents 43% of the total orange line coverage, which extends from Karond to AIIMS Bhopal.
