Warrant issued for migrant gang member suspected of murder, sexual assault
An arrest warrant has now been issued for a suspected Tren de Aragua migrant gang member who was cut loose from custody in Chicago last week despite police believing they had probable cause to keep him detained in relation to a murder. Pedro Colmenares, 33, a Venezuelan illegal migrant who already had a weapons charge against him when police cuffed him last week, is suspected of being involved in the shooting death of a 25-year-old Hispanic man last September, Fox News exclusively reported. He is also suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his former girlfriend. Chicago Pd Says It 'Will Not Assist' With Upcoming Ice Deportations Chicago police said probable cause existed to place Colmenares into custody for the murder of the Hispanic man, but ultimately the Cook County State's Attorney's office declined to press homicide charges, explaining they "carefully reviewed" the case and found insufficient evidence and "uncooperative witnesses." Homeland Security had also tried to apprehend him on an ICE detainer for the weapons charges offense in October, but because of its sanctuary policy, Cook County refused to comply with the detainer and Colmenares was set free. Read On The Fox News App Immigration agents wanted Colmenares taken into their custody, having entered the U.S. illegally in September 2022. He was ordered deported by an immigration judge in November of that year, according to DHS. 'He Is Delivering': Trump's First Month Flips Script On Radical Biden-harris Border Policies While appealing the deportation ruling, he ended up in Chicago, where he was roaming freely. But Fox News can now confirm that an arrest warrant has been issued for Colmenares, although the warrant is for the kidnapping and sexual assault of his former girlfriend last October in Chicago. The court document reads that the Colmenares' warrant was issued for two offenses: aggravated kidnapping and aggravated criminal sexual assault with a firearm. Colmenares is alleged to have pulled up in a car to the 27-year-old Hispanic woman and told her to get in "or I'll shoot you." Police say he drove the woman against her will to a separate location on Chicago's West Side, where he allegedly "battered and sexually assaulted the victim" over several days. Colmenares was ordered to appear in person before a judge on March 5 in Chicago. He was ordered to surrender weapons and stay away from the domestic abuse victim, according to a court document, but he was not assigned electronic article source: Warrant issued for migrant gang member suspected of murder, sexual assault

Trump reports illegal immigrant encounters at historic lows during first full month in office
President Donald Trump took to social media Saturday afternoon to declare "The Invasion of our Country is OVER" after his first full month in office, which saw only 8,326 apprehensions of illegal immigrants by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), a record-setting low. In a post on Truth Social, Trump relayed the apprehensions of illegal immigrants by Border Patrol at the southern border, all of whom were "quickly ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America." The Trump administration's apprehension numbers in its first full month represent a 96% drop from Biden administration highs in December 2023, when CBP reported 301,981 encounters at the southern border. 'He Is Delivering': Trump's First Month Flips Script On Radical Biden-harris Border Policies "This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER," Trump wrote in the post. "In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants." In fiscal year 2024, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported 271,484 removals, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported about 700,000 removals and returns, more than any prior fiscal year since 2010. Read On The Fox News App The Biden administration repeatedly had single days when apprehensions approached 10,000 illegal immigrants, surpassing the new administration's monthly total. The Trump administration's accomplishments come solely from executive action and tougher messaging after no border bill was signed. "Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation," the president wrote. Trump Freezes Applications For Biden-era Migrant Programs Amid Fraud, National Security Concerns After heavily campaigning on border security and cracking down on illegal immigration, Trump signed executive orders that declared a national emergency at the border and deployed the U.S. military to combat the surge. He also signed orders ending birthright citizenship, suspending refugee admissions, ending the use of an app at the southern border to admit migrants via humanitarian parole and resuming border wall construction. The Pentagon stepped in, deploying troops to the southern border and opening up Guantánamo Bay to migrants. ICE restrictions previously put in place by the Biden administration were overturned by the DHS, allowing law enforcement to go into "sensitive" places, conduct expedited removal and review the parole status of migrants brought in under parole. According to DHS data obtained by Fox News Digital, there were 11,791 interior ICE arrests from Jan. 20 to Feb. 8, compared to 4,969 during the same period in 2024, a 137% increase. A number of high-profile raids in "sanctuary" cities yielded more than a thousand daily arrests, including those of violent criminals and gang members. The country has also benefited financially from the new Trump border policies, with tens of millions of dollars taken back from New York City designated for hotels where migrants are being housed. A recent order directed all federal agencies to identify all federally funded programs providing financial benefits to illegal immigrants and "take corrective action." The goal of the order is to make sure federal funds will not be used to support sanctuary policies or assist illegal immigration. Noem ends Biden-era use of controversial app to allow migrants to board flights, except to self-deport
EXCLUSIVE: Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is ending the use of the controversial CBP One app to allow migrants to board domestic flights – unless it is being used for their self-deportation. "Secretary Noem is reversing the horrendous Biden-Era policy that allowed aliens in our country illegally to jet around our country and do so without identification," a DHS spokesperson told Fox News Digital. "Under President Trump, TSA and DHS will no longer tolerate this. Aliens in our country illegally can no longer fly unless it is out of our country to self-deport," they said. 'He Is Delivering': Trump's First Month Flips Script On Radical Biden-harris Border Policies The Biden administration had expanded the use of the CBP One app to allow migrants to enter the U.S. at ports of entry or via a separate parole process. That process involved them uploading information including a photograph. The Biden administration also allowed for the app to be used by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to verify a migrant without sufficient ID by comparing a photograph of a migrant in DHS records, and also use biometric matching. Those verified would also receive additional physical screening. Trump Freezes Applications For Biden-era Migrant Programs Amid Fraud, National Security Concerns Read On The Fox News App While migrants being allowed to board flights without ID predates the Biden administration, the use of the CBP One app has since become a method for identity matching of migrants without acceptable forms of ID. The new policy change ends the use of CBP One at screening checkpoints and TSA's National Transportation Vetting Center, and also bars air travel for migrants who were paroled or released into the U.S. pending their immigration processing, who do not present a TSA-accepted form of ID, and who are not self-deporting. It marks the latest crackdown on illegal immigration and also those who have been paroled into the U.S. using the CBP One app. President Donald Trump ordered an end to the use of the CBP One app to parole migrants into the U.S. on his first day in office. His administration has also paused applications for parole programs, and allowed ICE to cancel parole statuses of migrants.
