Joseph Badger student takes home Big Buck trophy in Trumbull County
KINSMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Big Buck trophy is back at Joseph Badger Schools.
Sheriff Mike Wilson presented the keepsake to Big Buck Champion Payton Palette Friday afternoon.
Out of 100 students from the four Trumbull County school districts who participated in the contest, Palette bagged the buck with the largest rack. It measured 134 and 4/8 inches.
The 7th grade student from Gustavus hunted the deer using a crossbow.
'I mean, it was a thrill. I mean, just really no words. I mean, it was one of the biggest deer I've ever killed in my life,' Palette said.
He says he's going to try to win the contest again next year.
