Dillon Gabriel signs rookie deal with Browns as Shedeur Sanders buzz continues to heat up in Cleveland
Dillon Gabriel signs with Browns (Cleavland Browns) The Cleveland Browns have officially welcomed Dillon Gabriel to their roster, signing the third-round quarterback to a four-year rookie deal on Wednesday. With this move, the team now has six of its seven 2025 draft picks under contract, with only second-round running back Quinshon Judkins yet to ink his deal. Dillon Gabriel joins Browns with rookie deal while Shedeur Sanders already wins hearts in Cleveland camp Dillon Gabriel, a 24-year-old gunslinger from Hawaii, brings with him one of the most extensive and impressive college résumés in recent memory. His college journey, which began at UCF and took him through Oklahoma before ending with a stellar campaign at Oregon, saw him become the most experienced starting quarterback in NCAA history—logging a record-setting 63 starts. In his final collegiate season, Gabriel was named a Heisman finalist and earned first-team All-American, All-Big Ten, and Big Ten Player of the Year honors after guiding the Ducks to a College Football Playoff berth. His college numbers? Simply eye-popping. Gabriel completed 65.2% of his passes for a staggering 18,722 yards, 155 touchdowns, and only 32 interceptions. He also proved he could make plays with his legs, tallying 1,209 rushing yards and 33 rushing scores over his six-year college career. Dillon Gabriel signs rookie deal with Browns (X/Browns) As reported by Spotrac (via P.J. Ziegler of Fox 8), Gabriel's contract is projected to be worth $6,226,322 over four years, including a signing bonus of $1,168,232. That figure places him above fellow rookie QB Shedeur Sanders, who signed for $4.6 million last month after slipping to the fifth round of the draft. 'Dillon Gabriel signed his four-year deal on Wednesday,' the Browns confirmed, solidifying their offseason quarterback investments. With Gabriel officially on board, the Browns' quarterback room now boasts a mix of youth, experience, and raw potential—featuring Deshaun Watson, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders, and now Gabriel. While questions swirl around Watson's availability due to his ongoing recovery, one thing is clear—competition at the quarterback position is heating up in Cleveland. With a strong camp showing, Gabriel could very well force his way into serious consideration for the starting job. As a top-100 pick—94th overall—Gabriel is expected to get every chance to prove he belongs in the mix for QB1. The Browns, who have spent decades searching for a stable signal-caller since their return to the league in 1999, now find themselves in unfamiliar territory: they have options. And Gabriel, with his track record of leadership and production, could be just what the Dawg Pound has been waiting for. The battle under center in Cleveland is far from over. But with Dillon Gabriel now officially in the fold, the Browns' quarterback saga just took an exciting new turn.
