Jamie Foxx & More To Receive Ultimate Icon Honors At 2025 BET Awards

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration of 'Culture's Biggest Night,' Jamie Foxx, Mariah Carey, Kirk Franklin, and Snoop Dogg will be recognized for their decades of game-changing impact across music, film, advocacy, and culture. The highly anticipated show will air live on Monday, June 9 at 8 PM ET/PT, hosted by comedian and actor Kevin Hart. Mariah Carey, the best-selling female artist of all time, continues to set records with 200 million albums sold and 19 Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles. Her five-octave vocal range and undeniable influence have shaped modern pop. In 2025, Carey also celebrates the 20th anniversary of her landmark album The Emancipation of Mimi , cementing her legendary status. Jamie Foxx, an Oscar and Grammy-winning entertainer, is being recognized not only for his groundbreaking film and music career but also for his work behind the scenes through his Foxxhole Productions banner. From Back in Action to his #1 Netflix comedy special What Had Happened Was… , Foxx continues to dominate across platforms. Kirk Franklin, a 20-time Grammy winner, has revolutionized Gospel music for more than 30 years. Fusing gospel with R&B, hip-hop, and pop, Franklin has pushed boundaries while uplifting communities, solidifying his status as one of the genre's most important figures. Snoop Dogg, a cultural icon with over 40 million albums sold and 21 studio releases, has influenced music, fashion, and business globally. Recently named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, Snoop continues to evolve as an entertainer, entrepreneur, and mogul. The 2025 BET Awards will also feature performances by Lil Wayne, Teyana Taylor, GloRilla, Playboi Carti, and Leon Thomas. Kendrick Lamar leads nominations with ten, while Doechii, Drake, Future, and GloRilla each received six. In addition, BET will commemorate 106 & Park's 25th anniversary with a nostalgic tribute featuring hosts AJ & Free, Terrence J, Rocsi, and performances by Bow Wow, Amerie, and more. 'We will honor Los Angeles as the city of dreams, showcasing its beauty and resilience, as well as its role as a beacon for filmmakers and creative visionaries for over a century,' Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang wrote in a letter sent to the full membership of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, per The Hollywood Reporter. 'We will reflect on the recent events while highlighting the strength, creativity, and optimism that defines Los Angeles and our industry.' Therefore, the nominees for the 2025 Oscars, across 23 categories, were announced in a delayed presentation on January 23 by multi hyphenates Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang. The 2025 Oscars will be broadcast from Los Angeles's Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, airing live one hour earlier than previous years at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. This will be O'Brien's first time hosting the coveted ceremony, taking over the gig from Jimmy Kimmel. In an interview with ABC 7, O'Brien did not shy away from the unique responsibilities of this year's Oscars hosts: to provide levity and offer respect to the communities affected most by the Los Angeles fires. O'Brien's longtime assistant and collaborator Sona Movsesian lost her family's home in the destructive fires. "The Oscars is a show that is very much a hometown show. It's a Los Angeles show, so what's happened here needs to be addressed," O'Brien said, wearing a shirt that read 'Altadena' during his interview. 'It's a celebration of hard work that's been done by many people… There's a needle to thread, there's a line to walk, and I'm determined to do that correctly. But I want to make sure there's humor, that we have some fun, and that we have some joy.' Apart from the eventual winners, others hitting the Oscars stage this year include presenters Zoe Saldaña, Rachel Zegler, Joe Alwyn, Emma Stone, Sterling K. Brown, Margaret Qualley, Bowen Yang, Ben Stiller, Oprah Winfrey, Lily-Rose Depp, Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Halle Berry, Amy Poehler, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Harrison Ford, Andrew Garfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Willem Dafoe, Robert Downey Jr., Whoopi Goldberg, Cillian Murphy, and many more. In a medley of "show-stopping performances celebrating the filmmaking community and some of its legends," per the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the six musicians performing at the 2025 Oscars are RAYE, Doja Cat, LISA of BLACKPINK, Queen Latifah for a tribute to the late Quincy Jones, and acting nominees Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, alongside a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale. The 97th annual Academy Awards will be broadcast live coast-to-coast on ABC on Sunday, March 2 at a new time of 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. SZA Wears Chiefs Red Outfit and Matching Hair for 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show
SZA's special guest appearance at the Super Bowl required a special look! On Sunday, Feb. 9, the Grammy winner joined her longtime collaborator Kendrick Lamar during the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans — as she stepped out in a monochromatic crimson look. The singer wore a red leather jacket which she teamed with red pants with lace-up details along the sides and a furry belt around her waist. The pair have collaborated on multiple occasions over the years as former Top Dawg Entertainment label mates, notably on their Black Panther soundtrack standout "All the Stars." Their most recent team-ups include two tracks off Lamar's 2024 album GNX — "Luther" and "Gloria"— and on song "30 for 30" off SZA's SOS Deluxe: Lana, a reissue of her 2022 album. As for her other recent looks, SZA snagged her fifth Grammy award last weekend when she attended the 2025 Grammys in a flowy bubblegum pink gown. The dress, which she accessorized with layered necklaces, a pink shawl and bangle bracelets, came complete with her signature curly hair, glossy lip and a metallic eye look. While wearing the outfit, she took home the trophy for best R&B song for her hit "Saturn." "Everything [has] been moving fast like far as production and rehearsals and stuff, so we speak, [but] we haven't really got a chance to settle into the moment," Lamar said. "For me personally, watching her, you know, her career and where she's come from, it's amazing to see." "I get to finally see how certain individuals see me come up in the process because I've seen her, day one, coming in the studio and writing songs, throwing away songs, writing another song, throwing away songs," he added. Lamar added that SZA — who signed with TDE in 2013 — has "always had it" and that he was "honored to be next to her talent."
