Oman participates in global forums to enhance its cultural and economic communication: Qais Al Yousef
Osaka: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Saturday evening in the official launch ceremony of Expo 2025, which will be hosted by the Japanese city of Osaka from April 13 to October 13, 2025, under the theme 'Designing the Future Society for Our Lives', under the patronage of Emperor Naruhito of Japan. The Sultanate of Oman was represented at the ceremony by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, Vice Chairman of the Main Committee for the Sultanate of Oman's Participation in Expo 2025 Osaka; Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture., Commissioner-General of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka; and Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi., Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan. Qais Al Yousef explained that Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, is a leading global platform organised since 1851, aiming to promote international understanding, cultural exchange, and innovation by showcasing countries' experiences and achievements in various sectors. In a statement to the Oman News Agency, he said that the importance of this event lies in its ability to bring together countries of the world under one roof, to present solutions and aspirations for a more sustainable and integrated future. His Excellency added that, based on the Sultanate of Oman's keenness to participate in international forums and enhance its cultural and economic communication with the world, its participation in this global event came to confirm its commitment to the principle of international cooperation and to showcase the Sultanate of Oman's unique capabilities and assets in various fields. His Excellency pointed out that a main committee has been formed to oversee the Sultanate of Oman's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, headed by His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, and including a number of relevant authorities. A technical committee has also been formed, including representatives from various relevant authorities, along with private sector partners, to ensure a distinguished and effective participation. His Excellency affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, represents an integrated cultural story under the slogan 'Extended Ties,' which focuses on three main themes: people, land, and water. It embodies the Sultanate of Oman's vision for cultural communication and showcases its contributions to innovation and sustainability. The pavilion was designed with pure Omani creativity by Omani designers, under the supervision of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, to reflect the national identity in a modern style that meets the requirements of the event. His Excellency the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said that the pavilion includes several main sections, highlighting the Sultanate of Oman's heritage, economic opportunities, and development experiences. It also includes a store, providing a platform to showcase a range of Omani products and handicrafts, enhancing the presence of the national product at international forums. He explained that participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, is not limited to the pavilion alone, but includes a wide range of accompanying events through which the Sultanate of Oman will showcase its economic, commercial, investment, tourism, and cultural assets. His Excellency indicated that the Sultanate of Oman is preparing next month to organise the most important investment event within the general framework of the Expo, to showcase the promising opportunities it offers across various sectors. The Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, will begin receiving visitors from Sunday, under the slogan 'Sultanate of Oman - Extended Ties'which is in harmony with the general messages presented by Expo 2025 Osaka reflecting the local life in the Sultanate of Oman, which depends mainly on human communication with others. Sayyid Theyazin inaugurates Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
Osaka: HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, on Sunday opened the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, which runs until 13 October. The pavilion, themed "Enduring Ties", focuses on three main elements: people, land and water. The Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka comprises six sub-themes: communication and interaction, tourism, investment opportunities, cultural identity, international relations and partnerships—all of which are aligned with the strategic objectives of Oman Vision 2040. HH Sayyid Theyazin affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, constitutes an extension of Oman's commitment to communicate with the peoples of the world, with whom it has interacted historically and culturally and with whom it has maintained cultural dialogue to this day. HH Sayyid Theyazin told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the pavilion's design is inspired by the innovative spirit of Omani youth, adding that the design of the pavilion is one of the outcomes of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design and that its content reveals the core components of authentic Omani identity. 'We were keen to have the pavilion reflect the Sultanate of Oman's identity and showcase the country's centuries-old history through the pavilion, which serves as a bright window that showcases our values and cultural heritage to the rest of the world,' he explained. HH Sayyid Theyazin underlined the importance of the Sultanate of Oman's participation in this global event, highlighting the country's role as a link between the world's regions and consolidating its contribution to the values of international understanding and cooperation. 'Our presence here at Expo 2025 Osaka affirms our commitment to share our vision and experiences with the world in addressing global challenges and in working together for a better future,' he said. HH Sayyid Theyazin valued the sincere national efforts made to implement Oman's pavilion. He extended his thanks to everyone who contributed to the realization of the vision of the pavilion, which, he added, represents the Sultanate of Oman as a people and land. Meanwhile, Sayyid Said bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture (Commissioner-General of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka), said that the pavilion presents a collection of written productions in Japanese that introduce the Sultanate of Oman through various historical, cultural, economic and commercial aspects. Al Busaidi pointed out that the programme of the pavilion includes various events planned to be held over a period of six months aimed to achieve widespread exposure on the Japanese side. Al Busaidi added that the Sultanate of Oman is the 8th country to obtain final approval to open the pavilion from among the participating countries. He credited this achievement to Omani youth, noting that the pavilion's message "Enduring Ties" represents the Omani spirit that upholds the values of peace, harmony and communication. Dr. Mohammed bin Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Japan, said that Oman's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka will place the country in a prominent position in Japan and that the event will be an opportunity to highlight Oman's investment opportunities and the major leap achieved over the past few years. Dr. Mohammed pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Japan is experiencing steadily growth, evidenced by a 7 percent rise in 2024, with the stage set for further growth, given major Japanese interest to invest in the Sultanate of Oman. Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), explained that the Sultanate of Oman's participation in Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan, represents an ideal opportunity to achieve many strategic gains. The gains, he said, range from interaction with various countries around the world, to enhancing cultural exchange and promoting the Sultanate of Oman's most important commercial and investment potentials, in line with Oman Vision 2040. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al Rowas said that this event serves as a global platform for showcasing the inspiring innovations and experiences of government and private institutions in a manner that contributes to strengthening the Sultanate of Oman's position as a gateway to various international markets. The opening of the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka was attended by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (Deputy Chairman of the Main Committee supervising the Sultanate of Oman's participation in the Expo), Prince Badr bin Abdullah Al Saud, Minister of Culture in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of CEOs of Omani companies, businessmen, and a Japanese officials.

Architecture Revival Initiative set to boost innovation
MUSCAT: The Architecture Revival Initiative concluded at the Oman Across Ages Museum in the Wilayat of Manah. Organised by the office of HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said between February 19 and 22, the Architecture Revival Initiative was aimed to raise awareness of the value of architecture and showcase architectural innovation. The initiative came as a continuation of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design in its first and second sessions and the design competition for the Sultanate of Oman's Pavilion at Expo Japan 2025 to enrich the architectural field in the Sultanate of Oman. The initiative targets various society segments interested in architectural design including specialists, experts and architecture students. The initiative has received continuous follow-up and attention from HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, confirming the importance of achieving the objectives set for the initiative which include enhancing awareness of the value of architecture as a component of national identity and motivating the public to explore the Omani architecture and understand its cultural, social and economic impact. The initiative also aims to engage various society segments in debates about architecture and provide a conducive environment for creativity and leadership as well as enhancing opportunities for architecture specialists in the Omani labour market. The initiative includes a corner for the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, achievements zone and an interactive experience for architectural revival. The corner allowed the visitors to view the stages of the first and second editions of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design and the winning projects in the form of a three-dimensional model and the architectural design that won the competition for the Sultanate of Oman's corner at Expo Japan 2025. The first edition of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design targeted the development of the site of the Mina district in the Wilayat of Muttrah situated between the waterfront and the fish market with an area of 7,500 square metre. Muttrah Square project designed by Ahmed bin Mohammed al Jahdhami, Umaima bint Mahmoud al Hinaiyah and Abdullah bin Saleh al Bahri, won first place. The second edition of the award aimed to design the Oman Maritime Museum in the Wilayat of Sur to document Oman's rich maritime history and highlight the brilliance of Omanis throughout history in their relationship with the sea. Mohammed bin Salah bin Ali al Balushi won first place. The award also launched a competition for the design of the Sultanate of Oman's pavilion at Expo Japan 2025. A team comprising Bayan bint Muslim al Ramadaniyah, Ammar bin Abdul al Kiyumi and Nayera bint Khamis al Hinaiyah, won first place. The Achievements Zone takes the visitor on a journey through a visual presentation of the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design in its first and second editions and the award's contribution to developing the Omani architectural scene. The Architecture Revival Initiative sought to enhance the architectural heritage by presenting successful models that combine innovation and heritage with the Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design corner hosting a number of speakers and specialists in the field of architecture to enhance visitors' awareness of the value of architecture. — ONA

Oman Across Ages Museum hosts Architecture Revival Initiative
Muscat: The initiative to revive Omani architecture, and showcase associated innovation with the architectural design concluded at Oman Across Ages Museum in the wilayat of Manah on Saturday. The initiative, organised by the Office of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, continued from February 19 to February 22. The Architecture Revival Initiative is in pursuance of the first and second editions of the Bilarab Bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, in addition the competition to design Oman Pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan. The initiative targets various sectors of society related with architectural design in the Sultanate of Oman, including specialists, experts and students involved in the field. The programme has received the attention of His Highness Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham Al Said, who decided to boost its awareness for being one of the important components of the national identity. The initiative showcased in the corner of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design displays the achievements and gives an interactive experience for revitalisation of architecture. The corner provides the visitors with the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the stages of the first and second editions of Bilarab Award for Architectural Design; the winning projects of the initiative and the projects winning the competition on the design of the Sultanate's pavilion in Expo 2025 Japan. The first edition of the award dealt with development of the designated site at Hayy Al Mina in the wilayat of Muttrah located between the seafront and Muttrah Fish Market with a total area of 7,500 sq. metres. The second edition of the award introduced a competition on the design of the Sultanate's pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan, the winners of which is a team comprising Bayan bint Masalam Al Ramadani; Ammar Abudulhamid Al Kiyomi; and Nairah bint Khamis Al Hinai. The team employed the idea of Omani falajs in their project. The video presentation, screened during the ceremony , took the visitors to a journey on the first and second editions of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design; the project winning the design of the Sultanate's pavilion at Expo 2025 Japan and the announcement of the third edition of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design, scheduled for the end of the current year. The interactive experience of the initiative dealt with three key pillars in the field of architecture and revitalisation of architecture in Oman. The interactive experience reviewed some architectural expressions of the initiative for prominent Omani personalities, mainly Honourable Lady Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah Al Busaidi, spouse of His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.
