THROWBACK: When Malayalam star Jagadish praised Shah Rukh Khan: He oozes an energy that's unmatchable
Malayalam cinema's veteran actor Jagadish once shared a heartfelt memory from his brief yet memorable stint in Bollywood, during the filming of the 2009 movie 'Billu'. Directed by Priyadarshan , the film was the official Hindi remake of the Malayalam hit Kadha Parayumbol, and starred Irrfan Khan in the lead, with Shah Rukh Khan playing a superstar and Lara Dutta as the female lead. Jagadish portrayed 'Modern' Madan in the film and had earluer recounted his experience on the sets, particularly his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan. 'He Oozes an Energy That's Unmatchable' Appearing on a television program hosted by Sreekandan Nair, Jagadish recalled the unique aura Shah Rukh Khan brought to the set. 'I must say about Shah Rukh Khan. When he comes to the set, he oozes an energy which is unmatchable,' the actor remarked. He noted how SRK's presence uplifted the atmosphere around him, inspiring not just the cast but also the crew with his electrifying enthusiasm. Calm, Humble, and Always Respectful Jagadish fondly remembered SRK's respectful behaviour, especially towards veterans like the late Om Puri . 'While talking to others, he keeps a calm and humble attitude, taking blessings from Om Puri saab,' he said. Billu – A Star-Studded Retelling Billu brought together a rich mix of talent from both Bollywood and regional cinema. While Irrfan Khan played the title role of a humble barber, Shah Rukh Khan played Sahir Khan, a Bollywood superstar. The film also featured cameos by Kareena Kapoor , Priyanka Chopra , and Deepika Padukone . Directed by Priyadarshan, unfortunately 'Billu' failed to recreate the charm of 'Kadha Parayumbol'. The original film had Mammootty and Sreenivasan in the lead. We spotted #srk at Kolkata airport last night

Hera Pheri 3: Akshay Kumar sends legal notice to Paresh Rawal, seeks ₹25 crore; ‘Playing with fans' emotions'
Akshay Kumar has sent a legal notice to Paresh Rawal, demanding ₹ 25 crore in damages. Through his company Cape of Good Films, Akshay claims that Paresh behaved unprofessionally by quitting Hera Pheri 3 after signing a contract and starting the shoot. Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal had started filming under director Priyadarshan in April. Akshay now owns the rights to the film, buying it from Sajid Nadiadwala. Paresh confirmed his exit recently, saying he simply didn't feel like doing the film. While there were reports that Babubhai left the project due to creative differences, he dismissed such issues. 'I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director,' he wrote on Twitter (now X). His departure has, however, upset fans of the popular comedy franchise. Meanwhile, the actor has been accused of unprofessional behaviour. As per sources, Paresh Rawal was being paid thrice his usual remuneration for Hera Pheri 3. Paresh is known for suddenly quitting films. In 2023, he refused to do Oh My God 2 as he didn't like the script. Earlier, in 2009, he walked out of Shah Rukh Khan's Billu after agreeing to it. The film also starred Irrfan. 'Paresh displayed a blatant disregard for professional integrity or commercial morality. If he wanted to not do the film, he should have said so before signing the legal contract, accepting the signing amount and making the producer spend so much money on the shoot,' an insider told HT. 'It is high time Bollywood actors realise that like Hollywood, producers here too will no longer give in to the whims of an actor walking in and out of a film as he pleases,' as per the source.

When he never expressed dissatisfaction at any point, for him to now suddenly play with the emotions of the fans of this franchise and inflict losses on the producer is clearly in bad faith,' the source added.

Made in Rs 14 crore, This Shah Rukh Khan film was rejected by 4 top actresses, the actor spent Rs 2 crore just on sand, earned Rs..., lead actress was... By the early 2000s, Shah Rukh Khan had firmly cemented his position as one of the biggest stars in the country and the undisputed king of Bollywood. Having consistently delivered the year's biggest blockbusters, the actor began exploring with few off-beat content-driven cinema. Between 2004-2010, he even backed several such projects like Swades and Billu , and went extra miles by investing his own money to support them. In 2005, Shah Rukh Khan signed Anmol Palekar's Paheli , based on a Rajasthani folk tale. The film starred Rani Mukerji in lead alongside veteran actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, with Amitabh Bachchan in special appearances. Made in a budget of Rs 14 crore, most of the film was shot in Rajasthan, but few scenes were filmed in Mumbai. In an interview, designer Muneesh Sappel revealed that around 400 trucks of sand were bought to recreate the particular Thar Desert scene in the film. Shah Rukh Khan, who bankrolled Paheli, under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment, reportedly spent Rs 2 crore solely on that elaborate set. Muneesh also revealed that the desert sequence, featuring SRK and Amitabh Bachchan was actually shot on a helipad in Mumbai. Paheli received critical acclaim and was even selected as India's Official entry to Oscars. However, unfortunately, it failed to make an impact at domestic box office, earning just Rs 2 crore, and being tagged as an average performer. Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan's romantic thriller found greater success overseas, where it became a hit and turned profitable for makers. According to reports, several prominent actresses rejected the role of Lachchi in Paheli. These included Kajol, Aishwarya Rai, Tabu and Sushmita Sen. The reasons weren't specified, and the role then eventually went to Rani Mukerji.

Panchkula: Told to leave gathering, man opens fire with gun
Enraged over being rebuffed by his friend at his office on Malla road in Bhogpur, a man allegedly fired three shots in the air with his licensed double-barrelled gun in Pinjore, Panchkula, on Tuesday night. Before opening fire with his gun, the accused, Mehtab Singh from Bhogpur, had trained a country-made pistol at another friend's head. He is now on the run. It all started when the complainant, Pyare Lal, 47, of Bhogpur, was having drinks with Nazir, alias Billu, who runs a property dealing business named Chaudhary Property Dealer, at his office, when the accused Mehtab Singh arrived on his motorcycle. After Mehtab declined offer for food, Billu asked him to leave. This enraged Mehtab, who allegedly pulled out a country-made pistol and trained it on Billu's head. Billu managed to snatch the weapon, leading to a physical fight between the two. Pyare Lal intervened and separated them, after which enraged Mehtab left the scene. Billu then contacted the police. However, Mehtab returned shortly after with his licensed double-barrelled gun. He allegedly fired two to three rounds before leaving. Pinjore police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
