Anson man accused of biting officer, holding woman against her will
ANSON, Texas () – An Anson man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting three police officers and holding a woman against her will during a disturbance early Saturday morning.
Just after 1:00 a.m. on April 5, officers with the Anson Police Department responded to a family disturbance call in the 1200 block of Avenue D. The caller told dispatch that a woman was being held against her will by 46-year-old Billy Mac Douglas.
When police arrived, Douglas reportedly collapsed without warning. Officers began administering medical aid and called EMS for a possible drug overdose. But once paramedics tried to treat him, Douglas allegedly became combative and 'violently' resisted first responders.
During the struggle, three officers were injured, including a human bite wound, a sprained knee, and multiple bruises.
With help from backup, Douglas was eventually restrained using a WRAP soft restraint device. He was taken to the Jones County Jail and booked without further incident.
Douglas now faces several charges, including:
Three counts of Assault on a Public Servant (Peace Officer)
Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport
Criminal Trespass
Assault Causing Bodily Injury to a Family Member
Unlawful Restraint
All injured officers have since been treated and released from the hospital and are expected to recover fully. The Anson Police Department thanks the Jones County Sheriff's Office and Anson General Hospital for their assistance.
