Local Eagle Scout honoring domestic violence victims with project

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Eagle Scout stopped by the culinary center last week to update the Binghamton Rotary on his memorial wall project to honor his late mother. Schyler Savage is in Troop 199, and for part of his Eagle Scout project, decided to create the Broome County Crime Victims Memorial Wall at Round Top Park in Endicott. Savage's mother was in an abusive relationship and was found dead in a Windsor home in 2023. Schyler and the Crime Victims Assistance Center have been fundraising for the project and have already raised around $20,000 of the $25,000 goal. The memorial wall will include the names of crime victims, and families can contact the crime victim's assistance center to add a name. 'The $25,000 includes not only just the building of the memorial, but it will also include all of the costs for the names to be added to it. And if I exceed that total, it will just cover more names for years to come,' said Savage. The goal is to hold an unveiling ceremony in April. The finished project will feature a patio, a flower bed, a commemorative statue, and more.
