'Do not eat' warning as Biscoff-flavoured ice cream recalled over allergy fears

A 'do not eat' warning has been issued for two popular flavours of ice cream because of "undeclared hazelnuts". Cheshire Farm is recalling Caramelized Biscuit Ice Cream and Biscoff Ice Cream because they contain hazelnuts which are not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a "possible health risk" for anyone with an allergy to nuts, reports the Food Standards Agency (FSA). 24 February: Update 1: Cheshire Farm recalls Caramelized Biscuit and Biscoff Ice Cream because of undeclared hazelnuts #FoodAllergy — Food Standards Agency (@foodgov) February 24, 2025 The following Cheshire Farm Biscoff Ice Cream with a pack size of 1L and the following batch codes and best-before dates have been recalled: Pack size - 1L Batch code - L23139 and L23261 Best-before date - 19 November 2024 and 18 March 2025 Additionally, Cheshire Farm Biscuit Ice Cream with a pack size of 1L and the following batch code and best-before date has been recalled: Pack size - 1L Batch code - L24150 Best before - 29 November 2025 On the recall notice, Cheshire Farms said: 'We are recalling Caramelized Biscuit & Biscoff due to the presence of undeclared hazelnuts in an ingredient for the manufacturer of this flavour.' It adds: 'Cheshire Farm Caramelized Biscuit and Biscoff Ice Creams DO NOT have any affiliation with the Lotus Biscoff brand nor do they contain any Biscoff products. 'Lotus Bakeries does not endorse and is not associated with these products in any way.' The FSA explains: 'If you have bought the above products and have an allergy to nuts do not eat them. 'Instead return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund. 'The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. 'In some cases, a 'Food Alert for Action' is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.'
