Bishop Auckland Pride Festival will return for a second year

A pride festival is set to return for a second year in County Durham this summer. Bishop Auckland Pride will return on Saturday, June 14 promising a full day of free entertainment and community celebration at Bishop Auckland College. Now in its second year, the festival is organised in partnership with Baccanalia and Bishop Auckland College and aims to build on the success of its debut. This year's Pride Festival takes LGBTQ+ celebration and pushes it further into fostering pride in our community, our working-class heritage, and each other." Travel arrangements for Bishop Auckland Food Festival have been announced. The popular event will return to the town centre on April 12 and 13, with more than 150 stalls, along with cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs, including TV chef Simon Rimmer and MasterChef champion Brin Pirathapan. Thousands of people are expected to head to Bishop Auckland over the weekend, so visitors are being encouraged to plan their journey in advance. Visitors are recommended to use the accessible park-and-ride service, which will be in operation between Bishop Auckland College (DL14 6JZ) and the town centre. Buses will run from 9.30am on both days, with the last return bus running at 5.30pm on Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday. Return tickets for the service cost £2.50 for adults, 50 pence for children aged five to 15 years old, and are free for those under five. "Bishop Auckland Food Festival always promises to be a popular weekend, attracting thousands of visitors to the town.
