Rep. Frank Burns seeks nominations to honor standout teachers in Cambria County
EBENSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — A local lawmaker wants to shine a spotlight on the teachers who've made a difference in students' lives, and he's asking the public to help make it happen.
State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, is seeking nominations from residents to honor middle and high school educators as part of Teacher Appreciation Month in May. Nominations are being accepted now through Friday, May 2.
Burns will select one middle school and one high school teacher from each public school district in the 72nd Legislative District, which includes Blacklick Valley, Central Cambria, Conemaugh Valley, Ferndale, Forest Hills, Greater Johnstown and Westmont Hilltop.
Teachers at local private and parochial schools, including Bishop McCort Catholic Academy, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Holy Name Elementary and Cambria County Christian School, will also be recognized.
Residents are asked to email nominations to RepBurns@ Submissions must include the teacher's name, grade and subject taught, school affiliation and a brief explanation of the teacher's impact.
Burns plans to announce the selected educators during the month of May.
