It's been over two decades since Diana Ross last turned the Met Gala into her personal runway, but if anyone knows how to make a comeback, it's the Supreme herself. And last night, at the 2025 Met Gala honouring Black dandyism, Diana reminded us what a true icon looks like.
Whether as a chart-topping singer, an award-winning actress, or a self-taught designer, she's spent decades proving that style and storytelling can go hand-in-hand. In fact, she didn't just star in Mahogany, (the 1975 iconic fashion film where she starred opposite Billy Dee Williams), she designed the looks herself.
From the second she arrived on the blue carpet, all heads turned to Diana and it was clear: she still knows how to make an entrance. With an18-foot train in ethereal white, shimmering with crystals and beads, Diana sported a radiant forehead bhindi and a pair of statement diamond earrings. But looking a little closer, her ensemble also carried some even more precious details—the embroidered names of her five children and eight grandchildren.

Diana revealed that she hadn't planned to attend this year's Met Gala but was persuaded by her 36-year-old son, Evan Ross, who joined her on the red carpet. Together with Nigerian designer Ugo Mozie, they created a design that fused family, culture, and couture.
Ross transported us straight back to her signature 1970s–1980s glam: fur, feathers, fine tailoring, sequins—all reimagined with a fresh, modern twist. A perfect fashion nostalgia moment.
