Blacksburg PD charge man with 100 counts in child porn investigation

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Blacksburg Police have announced the arrest of a man in connection with a child porn investigation on May 27. Blacksburg PD said that 21-year-old Nirish Chilakala was arrested on Tuesday after serving a warrant at a home on Broce Drive. Former school faculty member accused of felony misconduct with minor Nirish Chilakala has been charged with the following: 100 counts of Possession of Child Pornography (Code of Virginia § 18.2-374.1:1) Chilakala has since been released on a $10,000 secured bond. Canadian citizen dies in Blacksburg pedestrian accident

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Blacksburg Police say a Canadian citizen was killed in a pedestrian accident involving two vehicles on March 29. Blacksburg PD said officers and emergency responders arrived at the 200 block of Prices Fork Road after reports of a vehicle crash involving injuries. At the scene, two vehicles and a pedestrian were found. Three killed in single-vehicle crash in Botetourt County Police determined the pedestrian, who was identified as a Canadian citizen, Franklin S. Zhang, had been hit by one of the vehicles while on the sidewalk. Zhang was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. The investigation is ongoing. Chief Bill served in Vietnam and became the first African American Police officer in the New River Valley in 1970.
