Monday Munchies: Bentonville's Blu Fish House
It's been a long while since I last ate at Blu Fish House, so I put it on my revisit list.
Between the lines: It's worth pointing out Blu Fish House is not the same as Blu Fin in Springdale.
The setup: The warehouse-looking eatery is tucked into the residential neighborhood near The Momentary in Bentonville, across the street from Brothers Meethouse.
A fenced wall around the patio area, which is at the front of the building, makes Blu look uninviting.
But if you push through a clear vinyl hanging gate, a laid-back, shabby chic cluster of tables and friendly staff appear.
I was glad to see sushi on the menu. For some reason, my mind had the place fixed as a cod, tilapia and shrimp site, but it's much more eclectic.
The food: Short on time, I asked the server for sushi menu recommendations.
He pointed me to the "Spoke," a roll with tuna, salmon, yellowtail, snow crab or eel, avocado, crispy jalapeño and eel sauce ($20).
I'm not over the moon about eel, but the other ingredients work great in this roll.
The flavors all showed up for the party and the fish tasted fresh, at least to my Okie palate.
