Free summer admission for military families at Dayton Art Institute
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Military families will be able to view art for free this summer through an annual initiative. The Dayton Art Institute has announced it will again join the Blue Star Museums initiative to give military families free admission all summer. The program will start on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, and end on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. This program is open to active-duty personnel and their families. This national initiative is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families and the Department of Defense. For a full list of participating museums, click here. 'At the DAI, we are incredibly proud to participate in the Blue Star Museums program each year as a way to honor and thank the brave military families who sacrifice so much for our country,' said Michael Roediger, DAI director and president. Roediger says its more than just free admission. 'It's our invitation for military families to find moments of joy, connection and inspiration at the museum, time and time again. We hope they'll visit often, not just in the summer, but throughout the year,' said Rodiger. Multiple local schools receive Purple Star Award for supporting military families This program is open to all active-duty members of the United States Military and up to five of their family members. Those included are the following: Air Force Army Coast Guard Marine Corps Members of the Reserves National Guard Navy NOAA Commissioned Corps Space Force U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps People who qualify must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card for entrance. The DAI is located at 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton. Two Mississippi Museums will participate in Blue Star Museums
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Two Mississippi Museums will participate in Blue Star Museums, a program offering free admission to currently serving military personnel and their families. The museums, located in Jackson, will offer the free admission from Armed Forces Day on May 17 to Labor Day on September 1. 'We are proud to take part in this program, which allows the families of servicemen and servicewomen to enjoy these museums at no cost,' said Michael Morris, director of the Two Mississippi Museums. 'The proud tradition of military service is an important part of Mississippi history, and those stories are reflected in each museum.' Beltrami County Historical Society joins 2025 Blue Star Museums program
May 9—BEMIDJI — The Beltrami County Historical Society recently announced that it has joined the 2025 Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and families this summer. The program will start on Armed Forces Day on May 17 and end on Labor Day on Sept. 1. Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 museums nationwide. The program honors the service and sacrifice of active-duty military families by providing meaningful opportunities to connect with cultural institutions during the summer, a release said. Although federal funding for the NEA has been discontinued, the Beltrami County Historical Society Board of Directors voted unanimously to continue forward with the program. Their decision reflects a strong local commitment to accessibility, cultural enrichment and honoring military families. "As the stewards of Beltrami County's stories, we are honored to welcome military families to explore the region's history through our exhibits and collections," Emily Thabes, executive director of the Beltrami County Historical Society, said in the release. "Our participation in the Blue Star Museums program is one way we can express our gratitude to those who serve and their families." To receive free admission, active-duty military personnel and up to five family members should present a valid military ID upon entry. Eligibility includes those currently serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard, as well as members of the National Guard, Reserves, the U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps and the NOAA Commissioned Corps.
