Athletes from 5 counties gather for Special Olympics Trumbull County Invitational
GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) — The Special Olympics Trumbull County Invitational took place Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Girard.
This year, 160 athletes across five counties took part in the event. They all competed in races such as the 50-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter runs as well as the softball throw, shotput and long jump.
Event organizer Bo Greene says the competition helps bring the athletes together.
'They love it, and not only that — it's like the camaraderie they have with each other, even though they live in Geauga or maybe live in Trumbull [County]. They all have camaraderie. It's kind of unique how they all just get along, and they remember each other,' Greene said.
It was the 14th year for the Trumbull County meet.
