Boardman High School band director conducts last concert after 23 years
BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — Tom Ruggieri, who has led the Boardman Band program for 23 years, conducted his final concert on Friday night.
Known for being an animated conductor, Ruggieri oversaw the spring jazz concert at Boardman High School. He also conducted Boardman's marching and concert bands.
Ruggieri has been teaching music for a total of 37 years. He said it's now his time to retire.
'The greatest thing that I've accomplished is that my students know how much I love them. I'm getting choked up now. I really do, and I think that makes all the difference. It has inspired them to do great things,' Ruggieri said.
He said he still plans to be involved with music, but he's also going to do a lot of fishing.
