Impairment suspected in Marrero fatale motorcycle crash: LSP

JEFFERSON PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A Marrero man is dead following a crash over the weekend, according to the Louisiana State Police. Troopers reported that around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 30, they responded to the scene of a crash on Louisiana Highway 45 near Pritchard Road in Marrero. One dead, another arrested following Lower Ninth Ward crash An investigation revealed 51-year-old Ronald Arnaud Jr. was headed south on the highway on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he reportedly ran off the road into a ditch. Troopers said Arnaud was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was ejected from the bike suffering sever injuries. He was taken to a hospital where he later died. The crash remains under investigation while toxicology samples are being tested as troopers say impairment may have been a factor in the incident. Causeway bridge reopens, additional updates as severe weather crosses Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Causeway Bridge has reopened as severer weather makes its way across Southeast Louisiana on Monday, March 31. Officers with the Causeway Police Department posted to X (Twitter), said the closure was due to thunderstorms, high winds, crosswinds and poor visibility. As of 8:40 a.m. the bridge has reopened. Tracking severe thunderstorms Monday morning WGNO meteorologists are currently tracking a line of storms quickly moving across the area bringing with it the potential damaging winds. Other parts of the state have been placed under tornado warning.
