Trump Plugs Kid Rock's New ‘MAGA' Restaurant After ICE Raid
Donald Trump unapologetically promoted Kid Rock's latest restaurant venture Monday, just weeks after another of the musician's venues sent staff home to avoid an ICE raid.
The president plugged Kid Rock's new 'very friendly MAGA establishment', The Detroit Cowboy, on his Truth Social account, along with a website link.
The Nashville venue promises 'seafood, chops, fine dining' with a menu including scallops, lobster and mussels—but also some more Trump-endorsed fare.
'Congratulations to my friend, Kid Rock (I call him Bob!) on the Grand Opening of his new Nashville restaurant, 'The Detroit Cowboy,' Trump posted. 'I hear it is a very friendly MAGA establishment, and look forward to going there sometime soon!'
A delighted Kid Rock tweeted in reply, 'Keep kickin' a-- for America, sir!'
Kid Rock, real name Bob Richie, already owns Kid Rock's Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N'Roll Steakhouse, which opened in Nashville in 2018.
Last month the Nashville Scene reported the Steakhouse struggled to deal with late night crowds after undocumented kitchen were staff home to avoid rumored immigration raids by ICE.
After the story broke Kid Rock posted on his X account that he does not have anything to do with the day to day operations at the steakhouse.
'That being said I 100% support getting illegal criminals out of our country no matter where they are,' the musician posted. 'I also, like President Trump, want to speed up the process of getting GREAT immigrants into our country - LEGALLY! It's that simple folks.'
Trump would not be the first MAGA star to get a meal courtesy of The Detroit Cowboy; last week, Kid Rock hosted Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Kid Rock and Donald Trump met in 2017 and have become golfing buddies. The musician has been a rally performer—and appeared in a remarkable 'suit' outfit in the Oval Office.
Talking on the Will Cain Podcast, Kid Rock bragged about being able to call Trump directly.
'We have a lot in common,' the musician said of Trump. 'I know the best hours to get him, which is really early. And then, you know, kind of dinner time late weekends when he's golfing or something.'
'I try not to bother him too much ... so when I call him it's just fun calls, like I'm his buddy.'
Kid Rock told the podcast he will get calls from people seeking a direct line to the President for issues including pardons.
'I feel like I work for the Government! I'm like 'No I'm his buddy.' I'm trying to get my ticketing thing done and I've been by his side since day one, so I'm not putting anybody's agenda above mine.'
If Trump does drop by The Detroit Cowboy—named, of course, for the fact that Kid Rock is a son of the motor city—he can be reassured that his notoriously limited tastes are fully catered for.
A bib salad is $15.00, a 10oz filet is $76.00, and while desserts are not listed online, it seems unlikely that apple pie with two scoops of ice cream wouldn't be available.
Quite what prompted Trump to promote Kid Rock's restaurant is unclear—but intriguingly, one of his favorite shows will be broadcasting live from it on Tuesday morning, with the restaurant asking $45 for the pleasure of being there for Fox & Friends' Steve Doocey's live report. Trump could, if inclined, put in an appearance at the grand opening later on Tuesday, which is strictly invitation only.
