'This is an incident in which a suspect with a lengthy criminal history and who is a known narcotics dealer chose to run from the police. While it is unfortunate that the suspect suffered an injury, the injury resulted from him hitting the ground and not from a beating, as is being alleged by some. If you don't sell drugs and don't run from the police, you don't have to worry about getting tased,' said Chief of Police Edwin Bergeron Jr.
An investigation into the incident remains to vote on budget resolution next week, Scalise says
