Broncos have one player on PFF's list of Top 30 players over 30
Broncos have one player on PFF's list of Top 30 players over 30 Pro Football Focus writer Dalton Wasserman just authored a 'Top 30 players over 30 entering the 2025 NFL season,' and one Denver Broncos player made the list: left tackle Garrett Bolles. Bolles joins a list of old heads such as Tampa Bay Buc receiver Mike Evans, Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry, and Los Angeles Rams receiver Davante Adams. While they say it's a young man's league, Bolles and the players mentioned above show they can still contribute and make an impact. Wasserman explains why Bolles play helped him make the list, noting his pass blocking prowess. 'Now in his ninth year protecting Denver's blind side, Bolles remains one of the league's most dependable pass blockers," Wasserman wrote for PFF. "His 88.2 pass-blocking grade ranked sixth among tackles in 2024, and he allowed just two sacks all season. Over the past five seasons, his 89.2 pass-blocking grade ranks seventh among qualified tackles.' Bolles, who recently turned 33, still appears primed to help anchor the Broncos' offensive line in the coming years. The four-year contract extension he signed in 2024 runs through the 2028 season. Don Bolles monument bill has a path that sidesteps a key roadblock
A repeatedly stalled attempt to put a monument to assassinated journalist Don Bolles at the state Capitol could move forward after supporters found a way to get around a critical roadblock. State of play: Rep. Selina Bliss, R-Prescott, is pushing a strike-everything amendment, which replaces the text of a bill in its entirety, authorizing the placement of a monument to Bolles at Wesley Bolin Plaza. The bill awaits a vote of the full House, which overwhelmingly approved a previous Bliss bill for a Bolles monument in February. House Speaker Steve Montenegro, R-Goodyear, told Axios he expects the bill to get a vote this week. The intrigue: Because the Senate has already passed the bill, it won't have to go back to a committee in the chamber if the House OKs it as well. Instead, the proposal would go to the full Senate for approval. That would allow it to bypass the Senate Government Committee, where the chair, Sen. Jake Hoffman, R-Queen Creek, has refused to give it a hearing over the past few years, including this session. Yes, but: If it passes the House, it would be up to Senate President Warren Petersen, R-Gilbert, to decide whether it gets a final vote. Petersen could defer to Hoffman, neither of whom returned messages from Axios. Bliss told Axios she's unsuccessfully attempted to contact Petersen about the bill and hopes to speak with him next week. What they're saying: Bliss was a teenager at the time of the June 2, 1976, bombing, and remembers, "It just shook us to the core." She said she was frustrated by the bill's failure last year, and with the 50th anniversary of the bombing in 2026, she decided to sponsor it herself. "It needs to happen. It's an important part of our history," she said. Flashback: Bolles suffered mortal injuries from a bomb that exploded under his car at Phoenix's Clarendon Hotel. He'd gone to the hotel to meet a source named John Adamson, who claimed to have information about corruption involving prominent elected officials. Adamson called Bolles in the hotel lobby to cancel the meeting, and the bomb on the underside of the reporter's Datsun exploded as he backed out of his parking space. Bolles died of his injuries 11 days later. Between the lines: Adamson claimed he was hired to kill Bolles by Phoenix contractor Max Dunlap, who was upset by the reporter's writing about local liquor magnate Kemper Marley, and that he partnered with Chandler plumber James Robison to carry out the bombing. Dunlap and Robison were sentenced to death in 1977 largely based on Adamson's testimony, though an Arizona Supreme Court ruling later reversed the convictions. The pair was retried in 1993, with Dunlap being convicted and Robison being acquitted. Some followers of the case believe Adamson lied and that Bolles' murder was ordered by someone else.

Bozeman Bucks head back to region semifinals
SAND HILLS, Fla. (WMBB) – The Bozeman Bucks prepare for the regional semifinals against Bishop Snyder Bozeman's postseason run has been extended once again, as the Bucks overcame a 12-run loss in game one of three in the quarterfinals, securing the semifinal placement. The 27-3 Bucks were tested in a three-game series against Bolles from Jacksonville, where they were initially left treading water. Late-inning rallies have been credited for the team's success, a trend that has been embraced by head coach Jeff Patton and his players. 'Our biggest thing for us is if we can keep it close, like we're really good in late-inning situations,' Patton said. 'So that's kind of the message to the boys, in the fifth, sixth inning, keep it close and we'll find a way to maybe get it done.' A meeting with Bishop Snyder now awaits Bozeman in the Region semifinals, with a Division I-caliber left-handed pitcher expected to be faced. Confidence, however, has been maintained by the Bucks, who have already been tested by strong pitching earlier in the postseason. 'We've seen really good pitching. I mean, seeing Cooper Moss twice and the guys over at South Walton and down there at Santa Fe Catholic,' Patton said. 'So we feel like we're going to be OK. We just got to hang in there.' Bozeman's own pitching depth has been considered a quiet advantage, with a versatile group keeping opponents off-balance. 'I think that's kind of an advantage for us,' Patton said. 'Even though they're all right-handers except for Evan (Wallace), they all throw so differently, whether it's velocity or whatever. And if it is not working, we can go to another guy.' The Bucks are scheduled to leave for Jacksonville at 8 a.m. Thursday, April 28 for the region semifinals. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Simeon Caldwell's decision: 4-star Bolles football prospect selects national champions
Jacksonville's highest-rated high school football defensive prospect is headed for the national champions. Bolles junior Simeon Caldwell committed to Ohio State football, making his announcement on Twitter/X on Thursday. On3 was the first to report the news. The 6-3, 190-pound Caldwell is proficient at either safety or linebacker and delivered an impact last year for the Bulldogs, helping them to the Florida High School Athletic Association regional finals and earning first-team honors on the Times-Union All-First Coast selection. Advertisement An Under Armour All-American who also competed in the Polynesian Bowl, Caldwell is rated as a four-star prospect and one of the top 10 linebackers in the 2026 class nationwide in the 247Sports composite. His uncle, Tim Walton, coaches defensive backs for Ohio State, while his father, Mike Caldwell, played 11 years in the NFL at linebacker and previously served as Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator. The elder Caldwell currently works on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' staff. Bolles linebacker/safety Simeon Caldwell looks toward the sideline for a signal during a high school football game against Raines in August 2024. Caldwell selected Ohio State over more than 30 other offers, including Florida, Miami, Michigan and Notre Dame. Last year, despite an early-season injury, Caldwell battled back to record 80 tackles (12 for loss), three sacks, a fumble recovery and a pair of blocked kicks. Advertisement He's the second Bolles 2026 prospect to commit to Ohio State, along with tight end Corbyn Fordham. Lineman JJ Sparks (Miami) and wide receiver Naeem Burroughs (Clemson) have also committed to major football programs in the class. 4 Broncos make PFF's list of Top 101 players from 2024 season
4 Broncos make PFF's list of Top 101 players from 2024 season Pro Football Focus released their top 101 players list from the NFL's 2024 season and four Denver Broncos players made the cut. The four players represent a who's who of Broncos stars who made an impact this past season, while collecting a plethora of awards for their performance. Guard Quinn Meinerz and cornerback Pat Surtain were the obvious shoo-ins. But Offensive tackle Garrett Bolles and safety Brandon Jones got their praise, too. Mason Cameron, Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick compiled the list. This is what they had to say about Bolles, whose play helped elevate rookie quarterback Bo Nix as he adjusted to the pro game. 'Bolles has been the model of consistency across his NFL tenure, to which he parlayed another great year in 2024 into a four-year, $82 million extension in December," PFF wrote. "The veteran tackle continues to elevate his game as a pass blocker, having generated an 88.8 grade this season — fourth highest at the position — while surrendering the sixth-lowest pressure rate (3.1%).' Congrats to the four Broncos players. Now they will now look to keep the momentum going and attempt to help Denver return to contending for Super Bowls.
