Private Aviation Charter Company Using AI to Enable High-End Client Service
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Craft, a private aviation charter company launched in 2020, is changing the way the aviation industry approaches private air travel. The company has introduced artificial intelligence into its operations and rolled out a novel 721 exchange fund designed to "provide investors with a meaningful way to diversify their portfolio while enjoying the unique benefits of access to private aviation." The company's new exchange fund works similarly to traditional exchange funds. Investors can contribute their stock to the private fund in exchange for a share of the fund's portfolio. This decision can be beneficial for investors as it defers the need to pay capital gains taxes. Unlike other funds, Craft holds private aircraft as assets. When an investor diversifies with the fund, they essentially own a part of a private aircraft. What makes the investment unique is that Craft allows investors to access and use the aircraft they've invested in. This allows individuals to enjoy the benefits of private air travel without the responsibilities of upkeep, licensing, insurance and storage that come with private airplane ownership. Craft's fleet features Bombardier Challenger 300 mid-size business jets and Bombardier Challenger 350 super mid-size business jets. Craft's fleet features Bombardier Challenger 300 mid-size business jets and Bombardier Challenger 350 super mid-size business jets. Craft "Historically, the aviation industry has been slower than other industries to innovate. But, at Craft, we have always seen tremendous potential to bring new ideas to the marketplace. Our 721 exchange fund is one such innovation, and we're excited to be combining private aircraft with this unique investment opportunity," said Israel Slodowitz, CEO of Craft, told Newsweek. "Investors are increasingly looking for new and exciting ways to diversify their portfolios. Craft's exchange fund offers the perfect opportunity for diversification, and offers investors the unique benefit of access to private aircraft for their own use," he said. Craft owns a fleet of Bombardier Challenger 300 mid-size business jets and Bombardier Challenger 350 super mid-size business jets. Both planes have a range of over 3,000 miles and can seat nine passengers. Plans to purchase Bombardier Global 5000 long-range business jets and Embraer Phenom 300 light business jets are forthcoming. Craft private jet with passengers. Craft private jet with passengers. Craft Craft has already begun using artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline and maximize its business operations. "Craft has begun to implement AI into the company's operation, beginning with sales. Aircraft and crew are a limited resource," Slodowitz said. "Given this constraint, Craft is using AI to recognize patterns in the thousands of flight requests the company receives each week, to help determine the best usage of the limited aircraft and crew (i.e. the best and most efficient flights to sell). Humans are still involved in the process, but are able to focus on different aspects of the flight sales process." Fleet efficiency may be where Craft sees the most results from AI use. "Craft believes that this use of AI will allow the company to see a significant increase in the efficient use of their limited fleet – which, in turn, will ultimately benefit members of the company's exchange fund, through growth of their invested capital," Slodowitz said.

AOC Under Fire for High-Emission Private Jet Flights During ‘Fighting Oligarchy' Tour
On Earth Day 2025, a moment intended to highlight the urgency of climate action, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is facing fierce backlash after being caught boarding a luxury private jet. The timing could not have been more explosive. Just as climate-conscious voters marked April 22 with calls to curb emissions, AOC, a self-described environmental warrior, was photographed stepping aboard a carbon-spewing Bombardier Challenger jet on her 'Fighting Oligarchy' tour with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). According to a Fox News report published on April 21, the progressive duo used the jet to leapfrog across Western states, hitting cities like Salt Lake City, Boise, Bakersfield, and Sacramento in under a week. The estimated cost? Over $77,000 for roughly five hours of flight time. That bill is allegedly being footed in part by taxpayer dollars and political committee funds, an irony not lost on their critics (Fox News). Ocasio-Cortez, who has long positioned herself as a leading figure in the climate justice movement, previously condemned the use of private jets in no uncertain terms. In 2023, she took to social media to slam corporate executives, asking: 'For real, how many private jets do these CEOs need? It is insatiable. It is unacceptable.'(Fox News) But critics say the congresswoman is now living out the very behavior she once scorned. Private jets emit an estimated 10 to 20 times more CO2 per passenger than commercial flights, according to data from the European Federation for Transport and Environment. In one five-hour private flight, a Bombardier Challenger can produce over 25 metric tons of CO2, the equivalent of what the average American emits in an entire year. This blatant contradiction is fueling accusations of hypocrisy from both sides of the political aisle. The National Republican Congressional Committee quickly labeled AOC and Sanders 'champagne socialists,' mocking their calls to rein in corporate greed while flying in what amounts to a luxury airborne boardroom. Financial records reveal that Sanders' campaign arm, Friends of Bernie Sanders, spent over $221,000 on private jet travel in the first quarter of 2025 alone (ABC 33/40). While campaign finance disclosures for Ocasio-Cortez's trip on the jet have not been released, her participation on the same aircraft raises serious questions about whether taxpayer money or political donations intended for grassroots outreach were used to fund a high-flying luxury trip. Progressive groups that once rallied behind her Green New Deal legislation are now expressing quiet concern. One anonymous Democratic strategist reportedly told The Hill: 'If you're going to make climate your brand, you better live it. The optics here are a nightmare.' The controversy highlights a growing rift within progressive politics, between rhetoric and reality. While AOC and Sanders storm cities to 'fight billionaires' and 'defend democracy,' critics argue they are increasingly mimicking the very elites they claim to oppose. The use of private air travel while speaking against the fossil fuel industry may be the latest sign that idealism in Washington is once again giving way to convenience and celebrity. Earth Day, in particular, has intensified the backlash. Social media erupted with hashtags like #PrivateJetProgressives and #GreenHypocrites, as voters questioned how seriously their representatives take environmental responsibility. One viral tweet read: 'AOC says we need to stop climate change. Also AOC: 'I'll take the jet, thanks.' Happy Earth Day.' The political fallout could extend well beyond Twitter. As AOC eyes a broader national platform, possibly even a future Senate bid, episodes like this can provide ammunition for opponents looking to discredit her environmental credibility. Meanwhile, Republicans are wasting no time. GOP candidates are already crafting attack ads framing AOC as 'out of touch,' 'elitist,' and 'inauthentic.' Environmental watchdogs have also weighed in. Dan Kish of the Institute for Energy Research commented: 'This is climate alarmism for thee, but not for me. It's the classic ruling class behavior dressed up in eco-branding.' If history is any guide, this scandal will not vanish with the news cycle. With climate policy poised to dominate the 2026 midterm narrative, Ocasio-Cortez may find herself on the defensive, not against climate deniers, but against climate realists demanding action over theatrics. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's private jet escapade on Earth Day has become more than a social media firestorm; it's a cautionary tale. As America inches toward a climate tipping point, voters are paying close attention not just to what politicians say, but how they live. AOC's brand has long been built on moral clarity, progressive passion, and a sense of urgency about the climate. But when the receipts show $77,000 in private jet costs while preaching against carbon emissions, voters may start asking: Is it all just hot air?
