Is this Mississippi adventure on your bucket list? What HGTV says is a must-do before you die

If you could pick one thing for people to do in Mississippi what would it be? HGTV has created a must-do list of 50 bucket list items, one for every state. For example, you could see the Northern Lights in Alaska, hike the Grand Canyon in Arizona, see Chicago from The Skydeck or take in a baseball game at Fenway Park in Boston. The state has beautiful beaches, stellar food options and some of the country's best museums and college sports. On top of that, we're surrounded by natural beauty and small towns with fun downtown areas where you can get a taste of art, culture, literature or just enjoy a day of shopping at small businesses. Still, the Mississippi pick might surprise you. "Is coming face-to-face with an alligator on your bucket list? Take an airboat tour with Gulf Coast Gator Ranch on the swamplands of the Mississippi Gulf Coast to spot a gator in their natural habitat," HGTV wrote. Gulf Coast Gator Ranch and Airboat Swamp Tours in Moss Point offers rides and tours of its own gator ranch. River View Swamp Tours, based in Pearlington, has 2-hour cruises of Honey Island Swamp. If you prefer to stay on land, Gulf Coast Eco Tour, also in Pearlington, will lead you on a boardwalk tour to see wildlife in the swamp. You can rent a kayak if you prefer to get up close with nature. Mississippi alligators can be a lot of fun to look at. But keep your hands to yourself. Did you know killing alligators in Mississippi is illegal outside of specific hunting seasons? It's also against the law to possess, feed, harass or mess with an alligator at all in the Magnolia State. You can still claim $1,400 stimulus check from the IRS. Here's who's eligible, how to get

Are you missing out on free money? You might be owed a $1,400 stimulus check from the federal government. If you haven't already received one, it's not too late for eligible people to meet the deadline. The Internal Revenue Service started sending out about $2.4 billion in December to 1 million taxpayers for Recovery Rebate Credit checks that were never claimed. But the final deadline to be eligible is coming soon. Separately, the IRS estimates that 1.1 million Americans are missing out on their 2021 income tax refunds because they haven't filed their taxes. That totals about $1 billion in unclaimed money. That deadline is also looming, and if people miss it, the funds become property of the U.S. Treasury. According to the IRS, Florida taxpayers are owed about $61,087,200. Approximately 69,800 people who haven't filed their 2021 taxes could get back $732 on average. Here's what you need to know about if you're eligible for a stimulus check in Florida and when the deadline to file is. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), more than a million taxpayers didn't claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on their 2021 tax return. The refundable credit was for people who didn't get one or more Economic Impact Payments (or stimulus checks) during the COVID-19 pandemic. You don't have to do anything to claim it. They'll be sent automatically. The IRS said checks - up to a maximum of $1,400 - will be mailed via a paper check or direct deposited into the bank account provided with a 2023 return. A separate letter will come with notification of the payment. You have until April 15, 2025, to file back-year returns. The IRS said you might still be eligible for the check, but only people who have filed their taxes will get one. People also have to file their 2021 taxes to get any refunds that might be owed. Joann Fabric stores to close 10 of 13 Tennessee locations. Here's which ones and where

Several Joann Fabric stores in Tennessee are closing after the company asked a court to shutter about 500 stores across the country in the wake of a January bankruptcy filing. The stores targeted for closure include 10 in Tennessee and were decided upon after "careful analysis of store performance," the company said. There are 13 stores currently operating in the Volunteer State, according to records. Locations in Chattanooga, Madison and Murfreesboro were not listed among the closings. The chain has about 850 stores in 49 states, according to the company's website. 'This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our Team Members, our customers and all of the communities we serve," the company said in a Wednesday statement. In addition to store performance, "future strategic fit for the Company determined which stores should remain operating as usual at this time. Right-sizing our store footprint is a critical part of our efforts to ensure the best path forward for JOANN.' Last March, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. After finishing the bankruptcy process, then-CEO Scott Sekella said about 95% of the operating 815 stores turned a profit. The company, during that process, went private, meaning stocks were no longer traded. It filed for bankruptcy a second time in January with a handful of stores closed after the announcement as part of the company's routine evaluation process, not its major closing plan.
