The New York Giants wrapped up organized team activities (OTAs) on Friday in a Tom Coughlin-like way: Head coach Brian Daboll took the team bowling.
As the Giants walked in, Russell Wilson quipped, "About to bowl a 200."
The video, shared by the Giants on social media, continues, showing the players walking into the bowling alley, followed by a few shots down the lane. Then, Jaxson Dart says, "Theo (Johnson) is the worst bowler on the team."
"That's crazy, I'm the best bowler on my team," Johnson replied.
Then Dart is standing behind Johnson as he lines up for his next shot.
"You see, he said he's nervous," Dart says. "You got it, big dawg. You can do it."
Johnson bowled, leaving one pin standing.
"There's a highlight," Dart said. "That's a good highlight."
"That's not the worst on the team, though," Johnson laughed.
Rookie Abdul Carter also showed up near the end of the video.
"Today is actually not my best day," he said. "My teammates are doing well, though. You know I'm a team-first guy here, so I'm having a great time with my teammates, man. I'm loving it."
And that, right there, is what it's all about—having a great time together, building camaraderie away from the field, creating connections, and building the bond between players so they can better anticipate what the others will do on the field.
Daboll took a page out of the Tom Coughlin Book of Coaching for this one, understanding that what he's been doing hasn't been working and something has to change. With the group of players they have in 2025, there's no question the Giants are in a rebuilding year. And when you're starting over, camaraderie helps lay the foundation of what's to come.
This Giants' team may be far better than any of us anticipate. They're enjoying their time together, they have some really talented players to work with, and the youth they have coming up provides hope for the future. Whether it all comes together this fall or not remains to be seen, but things are definitely moving in the right direction.
