Virat Kohli's 12-Year-Old Interview Viral As His Lifelong Dream Remains Unfulfilled

The uncertainty around Virat Kohli's Test career ended on Monday as the iconic batter announced his retirement from the longest format of the game with an emotional post on Instagram. When the news started to emerge on social media first, it was also reported that the BCCI had urged Kohli to reconsider his decision. However, Virat decided to call it quits, saying it was the right time for him to bring an end to an illustrious chapter of his career. As the news takes the cricket world by storm, an old interview of Kohli has resurfaced on the internet. In the interview, Kohli can be seen speaking about his ambitions in Test cricket, stating that he wants to reach 10,000 runs in the longest format of the game. "I don't keep track of records at all. When I score a century in a match, I find out afterwards that it was the quickest to 10 centuries or something like that. So I only get to know about it after the match. Before the match, my focus is not on things like, 'I have five innings left, and if I score three more centuries, I'll set a record.' I don't think that way. My aim is to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket, and that's something I really want to achieve," Kohli said in 'Seedhi Baat' in a 2013 interview. Kohli, however, ended his Test career 770 runs shy of the milestone of 10,000 Test runs, having suffered a slump in form in recent years, which has also seen his average in the format drop below 50. In fact, it is at the lowest it has been in over a decade. Kohli managed just 190 runs across five Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25 against Australia, more than half of which came in a single innings when he struck a century in the first Test at Perth. The batter wanted to reach the 10,000-run milestone in Test cricket, as he himself said 12 years ago. But that dream remained unfulfilled. Listen to the latest songs, only on

Jasprit Bumrah likely to captain India in Test cricket as Rohit Sharma announces retirement

By Aditya Bhagchandani Published on May 7, 2025, 19:41 IST Just minutes after confirming his retirement from Test cricket, Rohit Sharma's exit has reignited the leadership debate in India's red-ball setup, with Jasprit Bumrah emerging as the likely frontrunner to take over as Test captain. Rohit, in a heartfelt Instagram post featuring his India Test cap, said: 'It's been an absolute honour to represent my country in whites. Thank you for all the love and support over the years. I will continue to represent India in the ODI format.' The announcement came shortly after reports surfaced that the BCCI had decided to move on from Rohit's Test captaincy, following a string of poor results — including five losses in India's last six Tests under his leadership. According to The Indian Express , the selectors held a series of meetings and are believed to have informed Rohit and senior BCCI officials of the decision. In Rohit's absence, Jasprit Bumrah has previously captained India — notably in the 2022 rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston. He remains the only fast bowler after Kapil Dev to lead India in Tests and is now widely tipped to take over full-time. However, no official announcement has been made yet. He also led in the previously player Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 as Rohit was rested out. Shubman Gill is also being viewed as a long-term leadership option, especially given his age and consistent performances across formats. But with Bumrah's seniority and calm demeanour, he appears the most likely candidate to step in during the England tour. With India set to tour England soon and the WTC cycle heating up, an official decision from the BCCI is expected in the coming weeks. "When One Has Played More Than 100 Tests...": Cheteshwar Pujara Makes Big Revelation

Ignored Indian cricket team batter Cheteshwar Pujara expressed his disappointment at not featuring for the national side in the recent past. Pujara, who was hailed as a strong contender for the No. 3 spot in the batting order, has not played for India since June 2023. Although he was being considered for a return in Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 against Australia, the selectors ended up not going through with it. Pujara said that he is still motivated due to the love of the game and is ready to play whenever needed. "When one has been successful at the highest level and played more than 100 Test matches and are still not a part of the team, you carry on the hard work that has been the reason behind getting the success. Not getting the opportunity is a big disappointment, but I keep myself ready and motivated because of my love for this game. And out of that love, I keep myself close to the game and routine without expecting much, and through any opportunity I get, be it domestic or county," Pujara said on Backstage with Boria. India's next assignment will be the Test series against England in June and the series is extremely important for Rohit Sharma and co following the disappointing results against New Zealand and Australia. Pujara said that he would like to give his best for the side in the upcoming series. "Team India has been quite competitive, but has not won a series in England for around 20 years now, so given an opportunity, I would like to give the best from my end and grab the opportunity if the team needs me. This would be the perfect opportunity to contribute when a win is much needed in England." Listen to the latest songs, only on
