BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Nearly 600 volunteers participated in Operation Clean Sweep on Saturday, a community-wide cleanup event in Bossier Parish. Shreveport's Macedonia House hosts re-grand opening to assist families and better lives According to a press release, over 400 bags of trash were collected thanks to the efforts of local residents and volunteers. Those participating also removed tens of thousands of pounds of old household goods, appliances, and other utilities that had accumulated in various areas. 'We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in Operation Clean Sweep,' said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington. 'This program would not have been possible without the energy, time, and enthusiasm of our cohosts at Bossier City, the Bossier Parish Police Jury, and especially our sponsors and volunteers. BOSSIER PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—During Wednesday's Bossier Parish Police Jury meeting, ConnectLA shared information about increasing broadband accessibility in the parish. According to information provided by Bossier Parish, about 6,500 locations in Bossier Parish lack internet service. However, funding for the upgrades has been allocated from the state's Gumbo 2.0 infrastructure bill, which is awaiting the release of federal funding to complete. 'I'm excited that we are in the final chapter where everyone in the parish can finally have high-speed internet,' Bossier Parish Police Jury President Glenn Benton said. More Local News Gumbo 2.0 is a competitive grant program created for Louisiana communities to roll out multi-phase broadband infrastructure and help close the digital divide in more rural communities or communities with broadband infrastructure that can not achieve 25/3 Mbps internet speeds. Volunteers needed for Operation Clean Sweep by Keep Bossier Beautiful

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Keep Bossier Beautiful is calling on volunteers for Operation Clean Sweep, a parish-wide cleanup effort scheduled for Saturday, March 22nd. Helping our environment This annual event, part of the Great American Cleanup, aims to beautify every corner of Bossier Parish with the help of residents, organizations, and businesses. 'We are excited to bring the community together once again to make a difference,' said Lynn Bryan, executive director of Keep Bossier Beautiful. 'We encourage everyone to clean up where they are—whether in South Bossier, Haughton, Benton, or Bossier City.' Volunteers who sign up will receive supplies, including t-shirts, grabbers, and trash bags. Participants are encouraged to collect litter in their local areas and drop it off at the Viking Drive Substation (2510 Viking Drive) for disposal. The event is supported by the Bossier Sheriff's Office, Bossier Parish Police Jury, and the Mayor's Office of Bossier City, along with sponsors such as Expand Energy, Republic Services, the Lieutenant Governor's Office, Louisiana Seafood, and Benny Keith.
