Green Day to be honoured with Hollywood Walk of Fame star

The update was shared by Variety on their X handle, leaving fans excited. As per the publication, Green Day will receive the coveted star on May 1. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool have been ruling the music scene since 1987. The iconic band's relevance persists through their enduring anthems - like 'American Idiot', 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' and 'Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)', that continue to ignite passion and inspire, proving that their music is as timeless as it is powerful. The band recently performed at Coachella 2025, where they stole attention by tweaking lyrics of 'Jesus of Suburbia' to reflect the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine. While performing the song, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong sang, 'Runnin' away from pain, like the kids from Palestine / Tales from another broken home.' The original song lyrics from 2004's 'American Idiot' was, 'Runnin' away from pain when you've been victimised.' Last month, the band also travelled to India and performed at Lollapalooza in Mumbai. Green Day earns Walk of Fame star with Serena Williams and Ryan Reynolds set to speak at ceremony
Green Day will officially receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on May 1, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. PT, adding another milestone to their legendary career. The punk rock icons—Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool—will be honored in a public ceremony at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, fittingly located next to the iconic Amoeba Music. Tennis icon Serena Williams and actor Ryan Reynolds are scheduled to speak at the event, with music journalist and TV personality Matt Pinfield serving as emcee. The ceremony will also be streamed live on the Walk of Fame website for fans worldwide. Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California, Green Day has influenced generations with their powerful music and rebellious spirit. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 and has won five Grammy Awards, including Record of the Year for 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' in 2006. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the Walk of Fame, noted Green Day's lasting cultural impact. 'Green Day's music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives,' said Ana Martinez, the Walk of Fame's producer. With 12 top 10 albums and two Billboard Hot 100 hits, Green Day's career remains strong, recently headlining both Saturday nights at Coachella 2025 for over 200,000 fans. The May 1 event marks the 2,810th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and celebrates nearly four decades of Green Day's influence on music and pop culture.
