St. Xavier basketball, 19-0 against Kentucky foes, still unanimous No. 1 in media poll

Undefeated against in-state competition this season, St. Xavier kept the No. 1 spot in this week's Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll. The Tigers (22-2) beat Ballard 69-60 on Friday to improve to 19-0 against Kentucky competition this season. St. X received all 16 first-place votes in this week's poll. The Tigers are followed in the top five by Great Crossing, Frederick Douglass, Bryan Station and Marshall County. Marshall County (23-1) suffered its first loss of the season Friday, falling to No. 8 Calloway County 65-60. No. 14 Butler and No. 15 Adair County both joined the top 15 this week, replacing Bowling Green and Ballard. The Kentucky High School Boys Basketball Media Poll is conducted by 16 sports journalists — one from each of the state's 16 basketball regions. The poll will be released online each Tuesday morning throughout the regular season. Along with the statewide top 15, voters will provide top-five rankings for their respective regions.
