Mason Greenwood's team-mate makes 'lucky' claim about ex-Man Utd forward

Mason Greenwood's first season with Marseille saw him finish as Ligue 1's joint-top scorer, and team-mate Adrien Rabiot has lauded the ex-Manchester United ace for his valuable impact Former Manchester United starlet Mason Greenwood has been praised by Marseille team-mate Adrien Rabiot. The Frenchman claims Greenwood could have been like Jude Bellingham in regards to stardom. Having emerged from the Red Devils' academy system, Bradford-born Greenwood swiftly made an impression under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and became the club's youngest European goalscorer at the age of just 17. In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coersive behaviour. The UK's Crown Prosecution Service later discontinued these proceedings, and all charges were dropped in 2023. Greenwood was suspended by United after his arrest and was sent out on loan to Getafe that year. A year later, he made the permanent switch to Marseille. In Ligue 1, Greenwood has flourished, scoring 21 goals to tie with PSG's Ballon d'Or contender Ousmane Dembele atop the goal-scoring standings. Though some of his antics haven't gone down well with the club's fan base. His peer in France, Rabiot, has now claimed that Greenwood is an "exceptional" talent, and that he could have had a brand image like revered England and Real Madrid star Bellingham. "Mason is an incredible player," Rabiot told The Athletic."If he hadn't had all of his problems, I think he'd have an image like (Jude) Bellingham. Mason would be the star. "Because he's an exceptional player. He can score with his right foot and his left foot, he has an exceptional shot, and he can dribble. We're very lucky to have him. When he's really focused, he does really great things." Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille finished as distant Ligue 1 runners-up this season and have therefore qualified for the Champions League. Greenwood aided massively in these efforts, though it has been made clear that he has little chance of being named in an England squad again, having made his debut and sole appearance in 2020. Bellingham, the subject of Rabiot's comparison, however, is talismanic for his country at the age of 21, two years younger than former Red Devil Greenwood. Steve McLaren, who endured a short-lived stint at the helm of the Three Lions from 2006 to 2007, has been trying to tempt Greenwood into switching international allegiances to Jamaica, whom he now coaches. As per conditions set by FIFA, players can switch international allegiances if they have not played in more than three competitive matches for a senior national side before turning 21. Greenwood only kitted out once for England, in a 2020 UEFA Nations Legaue match against Iceland, and is therefore eligible to switch to the Reggae Boyz if he pleases. "We are in contact all the time, with him [Greenwood] and his family," admitted Jamaica manager McLaren, who took up his current position in 2024. "I am very confident he only wants to play for Jamaica. It is up to him when he moves forward with that. The ball is in his court." King Charles Breaks Royal Protocol While Greeting Fans at Recent Engagement (& the Moment Was Captured on Camera)

King Charles was all smiles while saying hello to fans in Bradford, U.K. on Thursday afternoon—and appeared to be so relaxed that he even let his guard down momentarily. While visiting the city, His Majesty toured a local art gallery where the work of Bradford-born artist David Hockney was being displayed. The king must have been very moved by the exhibition and the warm welcome from the community, as he was snapped hugging a royal fan—a move that is generally considered to be against royal protocol. The royal family's official Instagram account shared the touching photo with the caption: "A wonderfully warm welcome to Bradford today. During a visit to the David Hockney Gallery, which is dedicated to the artist's life and career. The King met people involved in grassroots cultural activities and local community groups. His majesty also saw a performance by the Dantam of the Opera choir, a group of local Bradford City Football Club fans taught to sing opera by BBC Radio Leeds during Bradford's City of Culture year." According to the BBC, the royal fan was 15-year-old Florence McGrellis who told news outlets that the experience was "awesome." This royal engagement follows the king and his wife Queen Camilla stepping out for a 'Wonders of the Wild' event at Kew Gardens earlier this week. The affair was hosted by The Elephant Family—a wildlife charity founded by the queen's late brother, Mark Shand. Buckingham Palace shared a few highlights from the fundraiser—but it was a Gossip Girl star's photo that really caught our eye. Several notable guests were in attendance at the charity event, including Gossip Girl alum Ed Westwick and his wife, Amy Jackson. The actor took to Instagram to share a few highlights, including his brief encounter with the king, and wrote, "Thanks to my wonderful wife @iamamyjackson for introducing me to the @elephantfamily." It's great to see King Charles back in action after some health scares earlier this year. In fact, the royal recently attended the 80th anniversary of VE Day celebrations, which saw him making a whopping seven back to back appearances. It's clear King Charles is enjoying his royal engagements—including interacting with the fans who love him. King Charles gives cancer update saying he is 'on better side'

King Charles gives cancer update saying he is 'on better side' The King has been receiving ongoing cancer care for about 15 months King Charles III meets members of the Bantam of the Opera choir The King has spoken candidly about his cancer treatment saying he would like to think he is on the 'better side' of his journey. Charles's comments were made to a former cancer patient he met during an away-day with the Queen to Bradford to celebrate its status as the UK's City of Culture. The King has been receiving ongoing cancer care for about 15 months since he was diagnosed with an undisclosed from of the disease early in 2024. Florist Safeena Khan spoke to Charles when he visited Impact Hub Yorkshire to meet local business owners supporting diverse communities in Bradford and she presented the King with a bouquet inspired by the garden of his Highgrove home. ‌ After chatting to Charles, Ms Khan said: 'He asked me how I was, and I asked him how he was. There was some pleasantries towards the end, but it was a lovely conversation.' The King undergoes regular treatment as an out-patient at the London Clinic and the Bradford florist said he gave her the 'thumbs up' when she asked about his health, and told her: 'I'd like to think I'm on the better side (of my cancer journey)'. ‌ The King stepped up his workload at the start of the year following positive progress with his cancer treatment and that has continued despite the 'bump' of spending a short stay in hospital after experiencing temporary cancer treatment side effects in March. Charles will be flying to Canada for the opening of the Commonwealth country's parliament at the end of May and after a busy summer period will be hosting a state visit by France's President Emmanuel Macron when the royal diary is normally winding down. Earlier, the King was left 'flabbergasted' by magician Steven Frayne when he turned newspaper into £20 notes. Bradford-born Frayne impressed Charles at the start of his tour of the Yorkshire city where he recognised another famous son, painter David Hockney, while the Queen visited the nearby home of the Bronte sisters. Teenager Florence McGrellis surprised the King with an impromptu hug when he toured the Hockney Gallery at Cartwright Hall. Article continues below Florence, 15, who has Down's Syndrome, said afterwards it was 'awesome' adding, 'I'm friendly and I'm very helpful, and I'm a hugger', and the King seemed to enjoy the gesture, smiling and patting her on the back. Frayne, formerly known as Dynamo, showed the King new tricks he had been working on like an 'athlete' training, when Charles met a group supported by his King's Trust at a refurbished venue which will play a key role during Bradford's cultural year. He told the King he had just finished a run of 50 shows and was making a TV programme and joked 'you should come on it, we've got to tell our story, we go way back'. The entertainer, whose big break came after he was awarded a grant by Charles' trust, added: 'I wouldn't be doing magic today without the support you gave me.' The King replied: 'But it was your determination – you studied.' ‌ He produced a handful of note-sized pieces of paper and told the King 'I've got some newspaper clippings but I've been trying to take any bad news and turn it into good news', and as he tapped the paper pile it turned into £20 notes and Charles held the money to verify it. The classic 'pick a card' trick with a twist followed and Charles' apt selection of 'King of Hearts' became the new name for a string of wifi hotspots in the Bradford Live venue when the King named his card. Charles burst into laughter and Frayne said later: 'I've been fortunate to visit him in the royal estate, but it's nice to bring him back to my hood, to my estate – from council estate to royal estate. 'He's created an opportunity for someone (who felt) I'm invisible, there was no hope. It's almost come full circle as now he's back in Bradford, 2025, we're the capital of culture and he's once again inspiring hope and he's inspiring his own type of magic in all these incredible people.' Article continues below Asked about the King's reaction to the magic, the entertainer replied: 'He just said it was absolutely phenomenal and a lot of amazing words that made my magic sound incredible, he said keep going, and said he was flabbergasted.'

King Charles and Queen Camilla visit Bradford to mark City of Culture celebrations

The King and Queen were greeting by crowds of people as they arrived in Bradford to mark City of Culture celebrations. People had gathered alongside crash barriers outside the venue Bradford Live to see the royal couple arrive for a visit that will set the seal on the year-long celebrations. Bradford was chosen as the UK City of Culture over 20 other bids in May 2022 by the Government to showcase its best in music, the arts and heritage. Charles and Camilla were welcomed by a performance from Paraorchestra, an ensemble of professional disabled and non-disabled musicians. Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracey Brabin, welcomed the royal couple to the city. The King and Queen stopped to speak to members of the public before they were treated to a performance by school pupils inside the venue. Charles went on to visit Impact Hub Yorkshire, in Little Germany, a centre that provides support to businesses finding sustainable solutions to social challenges. He ended his visit at Cartwright Hall, an art gallery in Lister Park to tour an exhibition of work by Bradford-born artist David Hockney. Bradford 2025 is taking place throughout Bradford District, an area of 141 square miles across West Yorkshire. It features performances, exhibitions, events and activities with a focus on the people of Bradford, from local artists to the diverse communities who call the city home. Shanaz Gulzar, creative director, and Dan Bates, executive director, of Bradford 2025, said: "We are delighted that Their Majesties The King and Queen are visiting Bradford." The senior figures behind the project said they were looking forward to sharing "some of the highlights of what this city and district has to offer during this momentous year as UK City of Culture - a year which is helping to drive confidence and investment, bringing communities together to share in Bradford's vibrant cultural offer, and enabling skills and talent development to shape the future of one of the UK's youngest and most diverse cities".

Kathy Biggs' third novel published by Harper Collins

A POWYS author, who only turned to writing after being made redundant, has just released her third novel – and her first since signing a book deal with iconic publishing house Harper Collins. Kathy Biggs ' third novel, 'Attention All Shipping', is the first from the Bradford-born writer since she signed with the industry giant – one of the big five global publishing companies. Attention All Shipping was released last Thursday, May 8, with Kathy holding an official local release in Llanwrtyd Wells, where she lives, on Friday evening. 'There were around 90 people there and I sold 80 books,' said Kathy, who has lived in Powys for more than 40 years. 'My editor, who is a co-director at Harper Collins, came up and did the interviewing; she stayed at the Neuadd Arms in town and loved it.' Kathy had a varied career as a nurse, foster carer and homeopath, before turning her hand to writing after being made redundant by Age Concern in 2017. She'd never harboured any desire to write, but after attending a creative writing course in Builth Wells, something clicked. She released ' The Luck ' in 2022, a story about an Irish crop duster who leaves for a new life in America. ' Scrap ', about how a young boy found in the back of a car at a scrapyard changes the lives of the people who find him, followed in 2023. Then, 18 months ago, Kathy got herself an agent, which was when 'everything changed'. 'It's my third novel and I feel like a fully-fledged novelist now,' said Kathy. 'It's strange.' RECOMMENDED READING: The married mother-of-two, who first moved to Powys in the 1980s, originally living in Glascwm, near Builth, published her first two novels through Honno – an Aberystwyth-based company which champions and publishes writing by the women of Wales. 'It was a tricky decision to leave Honno and go to someone with bigger resources, but now I have an agent, Sara O'Keeffe, and she has changed everything,' admitted Kathy. 'I signed a contract with Harper Collins in around March or April 2024 and Sara went for the bigger publishing houses. 'It's not anything that I ever expected to happen, especially after being made redundant and at my age. It feels unbelievable.' Having a totally new career take off, in her 60s, has been a shock – Attention All Shipping has even landed Kathy a contract in Germany, while she had to select actors to read the audiobook version. 'I've also got a contract in Germany, with DTV, so the book roughly translates to 'Ships On Stormy Seas', and it's being translated into German,' she added. 'It's also in audiobook format and I had a say in choosing the actors. I got sent voice samples to choose, which is not something I ever thought I would do.' There is a correlation between the new book and American author E. Annie Proulx's 1993 novel The Shipping News, which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction. A tender, hopeful novel about losing and finding family, Attention All Shipping is about father and daughter Jack and Grace. Grace lives with her father on their crumbling family farm in Wales. Jack, who has dementia, lost his son Michael in a tragic accident at sea and each night he is soothed by an old recording of the shipping forecast, lulled to sleep by the belief that Michael is safe. While he sleeps, Grace wonders how she ended up back here, caring for her father rather than living her own life. One day, a young woman turns up on their farm, claiming to be Michael's daughter. Kathy's portrayal of dementia is based on her own experience of caring for her father, while 2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the first broadcast of the Shipping Forecast.
