Oddett-Marie Alexis, Bradwell Institute's parent engagement specialist was honored with Liberty County School Superintendent's Extra Mile Award Tuesday night. Superintendent Franklin Perry surprised Alexis and thanked her for being a light in the school district. Boys, Girls championship games set for Region 1-AAAA
STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — The region championship games are set for Region 1-AAAA on the boys' and girls' side after an exciting day of semifinal action at Statesboro High School on Feb. 13. On the girls' side, Bradwell Institute pulled away late from Glynn Academy to advance to the finale, 41-33. The Lady Tigers will face Brunswick. The Lady Pirates upset Evans, 65-59. The game will tip off from Statesboro on Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. On the boys' side, the matchup is Brunswick against Lakeside-Evans. Brunswick created some separation in the fourth quarter to win, 61-40. Lakeside-Evans got all they could handle from Bradwell Institute. However, Lakeside-Evans finished on top, 67-66. The game will tip off after the conclusion of the girls' championship. Bradwell Institute boys punch 4th consecutive trip to state tournament
HINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) — The Bradwell Institute boys basketball team will make its fourth consecutive trip to the state tournament after 66-40 win over Evans in the quarterfinals for the Boys Region 1-AAAAA tournament on Feb. 12 at Bradwell Institute. The game was never really in doubt. Bradwell lead 14-8 after the first quarter. They led by 16, 32-16, at the half. In the fourth quarter, they led by as many as 30 points, 60-30, before earning a trip to the region tournament semifinals. Bradwell will play the Lakeside-Evans on Feb. 13 for a spot in the region championship. Lakeside-Evans is the No. 1 seed on the north side of the region. Also in the region, Statesboro fell on the road to Greenbrier, 68-60. The Blue Devils led with under two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. After a flagrant foul was called on Statesboro, the head coach disagreed and received a technical foul. Greenbrier made four consecutive free throws and took a lead they would not relinquish.
