Annual Easter Egg Drop in Grove City carries on, even in the rain
GROVE CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – Saturday's rain caused a change of plans for Keystone Safari's annual Easter Egg Drop, but it didn't stop many from coming out to enjoy the festivities.
'The helicopter did have to cancel due to weather conditions. We do want to make sure that not only our guests, but the pilot is staying safe as well,' said Hayden Maine with Keystone Safari.
Hundreds of parents and their kids came out to participate in its annual Easter Egg Drop.
'We brought grandma and grandpa today, and Cora, so we got the whole family affair,' said attendee Brandie Welch.
There were 4,000 eggs spread across the front lawn, filled with toys and candy.
'My favorite candy is Milky Way or Tootsie Rolls,' said attendee Gavin Welch.
But it's the time spent with their families that brightens up their day.
'It's just that — the family together, bringing everyone together, having fun, having something to do,' Brandie said.
'Easter weekend is great because of the time of year, the spirit in the air. You get Christmas in the early winter and now you get this,' said attendee Stephen Carfangia.
The spirit could be seen on the kids' faces, racing across the lawn to collect as many eggs as they could and opening what they received from the Easter Bunny.
The event sent everyone home with moments that will last a lifetime.
'It's going to have memories, and we're going to never forget it because it's Easter,' Gavin said.
'For them to have something they can do on their own is great for them, enrichment for the kids. They can play a little bit independently, with a bunch of other kids and get that community feeling is real nice,' Carfangia said.
'It's memories that we'll never forget,' Brandie said.
