[Friday, May 30, 2025] – While touring with Ball Park Music, Magandgin/Brisbane band Platonic Sex unveil 'Easy', a pop-rock confessional steeped in the nostalgic hum of a worn-out cassette. The track layers honeycomb sweetness with a raw edge, preserving fleeting memories of early romance until intimacy's currency dwindles and the initial thrill subsides. 'My verse in this song was written when I was in high school', says Jane Millroy. 'It was a whole song that never went anywhere, until it just fit – one of those puzzle piece songs.' 'We often write about the in-between stages of love', says Brandolini, adding, 'It's so effortless to fall into intimacy with someone, but if it's not the right match, it can become transactional.' Driven by a muscular kick beat, its doubled vocal melody maps the negative space of a relationship washed away – first appearances lose their lustre, and the seams of a union don't join right, despite best intentions. 'It's about hoping for more excitement or yearning for more in relationships,' explains singer-guitarist Bridget Brandolini. 'Understanding that you want to be challenged and inspired, but being frustrated that you don't know how to get it reflected back at you.' This yearning is mirrored in the track's soundscape, where stillness punctuates moments of turmoil, sampled drums and refracted feedback reflecting the panic and justification that comes with navigating uncertainty.
