Lee County Sheriff's Office
The following reports were filed Monday by the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
A Highway 348, Guntown, woman said she has been feeding and housing a hound dog that belongs to a neighbor. She has spoken to the neighbor, who still wants the dog but doesn't have a problem with the woman taking care of it as well. She wanted an animal control officer to call her.
A County Road 1948, Saltillo, man said a stray black dog came to his house two days ago, so he fed it. Today, he was feeding his two dogs and the stray returned and got into a fight. When the man tried to break up the fight, the stray dog bit him on both hands.
A County Road 1017, Tupelo, man said a dog showed up on his front porch and would not leave. The dog seemed to be a neighborhood dog, but the man did not know who it belongs to. He wanted the dog picked up and taken to the shelter. The deputy explained that the sheriff's office could not pick up dogs without a court order, but he was free to carry the dog to the shelter himself if he wanted.
