Tacoma man sentenced for using social media to sexually coerce a minor
A Tacoma man has been sentenced to just under 14 years in federal prison for using social media to coerce a minor into sending him sexually explicit materials, including 'sadistic and masochistic' conduct. According to court documents, 22-year-old Brandon Kuper used Discord and Snapchat to attempt to develop a relationship with the minor. Kuper coerced the victim into producing and sending him sexually explicit photos and videos, including 'sadistic and masochistic conduct.' In several instances, Kuper asked victims to cut his social media username 'Mergzs' into their skin, and to photograph it and send it to him. When the victim denied some of Kuper's requests, he threatened to harm the victim and victim's family if his demands were not met, according to court documents. Investigators also found revenge porn that Kuper created when at least one other victim did not comply with his demands. He posted the 'revenge porn' that he created, prosecutors said. He was arrested in November of 2022 and plead guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor two years later. When he is released from his 13-year sentence, he will be on parole for 10 years.

A Tacoma man has been sentenced in Eugene, Oregon, for pressuring a minor to send him sexually explicit materials and threatening them if they did not comply. Brandon Kuper, 22, was sentenced Tuesday to 13 years and nine months in federal prison, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Oregon. He was suspected in November 2022 of messaging a minor through Discord and Snapchat in an attempt to form a relationship with them, the release said. 'Kuper coerced the victim into producing and sending him sexually explicit photos and videos, including sadistic and masochistic conduct. When the victim denied some of Kuper's requests, he threatened to harm the victim and victim's family if his demands were not met,' the release said. The victim reported Kuper to their parents and then law enforcement after receiving continued threats and demands, the release said. The release said that Kuper used social media to convince other minors to send him sexually explicit material. He would ask them to 'cut' his username, 'Merqzs' into their skin and send him photos of it. Kuper also made and posted revenge pornography of at least one victim who refused his demands, according to the release. Kuper was arrested in Tacoma on Nov. 10, 2022, the release said. Seven days later, Kuper received a federal two-count indictment where he was charged with production of child pornography and enticing a minor. He pleaded guilty on Nov. 20, 2024 to coercion and enticement of a minor.

(KOIN) – A man will spend nearly 14 years in federal prison for using the social media sites Snapchat and Discord to convince minors to send him explicit photos and videos, according to authorities. Court documents show Brandon Kuper, 22, of Tacoma, Wash. had messaged a minor in an effort to form a relationship and coerce the victim to send him sexual content in November 2022. The DA said the requests included 'sadistic and masochistic conduct.' Logo featured in Pixar, Disney+ series appears to resemble Portland Pickles 'When the victim denied some of Kuper's requests, he threatened to harm the victim and victim's family if his demands were not met,' officials said. 'Kuper continued to make threats and demands until the victim bravely reported Kuper to their parents and then law enforcement.' The report opened an investigation that found Kuper had a history of using social media to find and convince minors to produce similar material. 'In several instances, Kuper asked his victims to cut his social media username 'Merqzs' into their skin, photograph it, and send him the photos,' officials said. 'Investigators also found revenge pornography that Kuper created and posted of at least one other victim that did not comply with his demands.' Two years later, in November 2024, Kuper pleaded guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor. After serving 165 months in prison, Kuper will also spend 10 years on supervised release.
