Beloved Virginia radio host is dramatically arrested after stumbling into police shootout

A Virginia radio DJ was arrested after he allegedly drove his car into a crime scene while drunk following a police-involved shooting. Brandon 'Shaggy' Stokes, 43, was charged with DUI and obstruction of justice on Wednesday after attempting to speed through the dangerous crime scene in Virginia Beach around 9:30am. He arrived at the scene - where officers had shot a man brandishing a fake handgun - and tried to drive through it to reach his property nearby, police told WAVY 10. When told he could not enter, Stokes allegedly became belligerent and told officers: 'You wanna bet?' Officers noticed he was slurring his words and placed him under arrest for DUI. An hour later, he took a Breathalyzer test and blew an 0.18, more than double the legal limit, WAVY 10 reported. He was caught on camera getting arrested while wearing a white shirt and shorts with his hair tied back in a ponytail. He later has bonded out of jail. The Daily Mail has reached out to Stokes for comment. The shooting occurred after police responded to a report of an armed 18-year-old. The suspect had flashed a replica gun at officers and was shot at a storage facility on Honeygrove Road. The facility is located next to a roller rink, the Haygood Skating Center, which is owned by Stokes. He took to his Facebook page to update his followers after the arrest, telling them: All is WELL.' In a separate post, he wrote: 'Promise you all is well. I'm good.' Stokes hosts the the Shaggy & Friends Morning Show for Z104, where he began working in 2000 by answering phone calls and doing grunt work, according to The Virginian-Pilot. He's gone on to host artists such as Pharrell and other big-name musicians.
