Police looking for Brantford teen missing since Sunday

The Brantford Police Service is looking for information about a missing 15-year-old. They said Jayla was last seen getting into a taxi on McClure Avenue on Sunday around 1:20 p.m. She is 5'3' with long, curly brown hair and a nose ring. She also has a tattoo of a cross on the top of her right middle finger and another unspecified tattoo on the side of her first left finger. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to contact police.

Brantford Police arrest Toronto man after disturbance involving a firearm

Headquarters of the Brantford Police Service on May 12, 2025. (Hannah Schmidt/CTV News) Brantford Police have arrested a wanted man from Toronto after a disturbance involving a firearm on Tuesday. Police said the disturbance happened at around 9:30 p.m. at an Icomm Drive skate park. Police did not specify what happened but said the suspect had a loaded restricted firearm at the time. No one was hurt. Police said the suspect did not want to identify himself to officers. After further investigation, police believed the man was wanted by a police service in a neighbouring area. They said he was in violation of multiple probation orders. Police arrested a 25-year-old man from Toronto. He was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized firearm possession, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, careless storage of a firearm, non-compliance with a prohibition order, possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order, failure to comply with a judicial release order and obstruction of a peace officer.

(Hannah Schmidt/CTV News) Brantford Police say a 30-year-old man who was walking downtown Thursday had 'multiple weapons and a large quantity of illegal substances' on him. Officers on foot patrol spotted the man, who was wanted on an arrest warrant, on Colborne Street at around 1 p.m. When searched, police found he was carrying a large quantity of suspected fentanyl and cocaine, as well as an expandable baton and a knife. The 30-year-old was charged with possession for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and possession for both fentanyl and cocaine.

Toronto man charged with Brantford robbery that sent victim to hospital

On April 30, a man told officers two men approached him between 4 a.m. and 4:40 a.m. near the intersection of King Street and Colbourne Street. The victim said he was assaulted and robbed of cash. He was then taken to hospital with serious injuries. On June 2, Brantford Police arrested a 25-year-old from Toronto. He was charged with robbery and aggravated assault. Investigators are still looking for the second suspect. They said a description was not available.

Officers were called to Colborne Street near Clarence Street at 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday. They found one male victim who had been shot outside an unnamed nightclub He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The shooter has not yet been identified. Police are asking witnesses who haven't already spoke to officers to contact Det. Const. Katie Esposto at 519-756-7050, ext. 2827.
