Brett Goldstein premieres first HBO stand-up special ‘Second Best Night of Your Life'

Brett Goldstein, best known for his role as Roy Kent in the acclaimed series Ted Lasso, debuts his first HBO stand-up special tonight. Titled Brett Goldstein: Second Best Night of Your Life, the special was filmed in New Jersey following a successful tour across the United States and the United Kingdom throughout 2024 and 2025. Goldstein, who also co-created the series Shrinking, showcases a mix of humour touching on love, sex, masculinity, and his affection for Sesame Street characters. While fans are used to his gruff persona on television, the special highlights his sharp wit and unexpected references to Jim Henson's creations, balanced with his trademark use of strong language. The special premieres on HBO and will be available to stream on Max from 10 p.m. ET, 26 April. Those without traditional HBO access can subscribe to Max starting at $9.99 per month with ads. Alternatively, viewers can subscribe via Prime Video or opt for Sling TV's Blue plan with a Max add-on. New subscribers to Max via Sling TV benefit from 50% off their first month and continued monthly discounts. Ted Lasso and Shrinking are also available to stream on Apple TV+, with a one-week free trial offered to new subscribers. Shrinking has been renewed for a third season, and Ted Lasso will return for a fourth, over two years after its last finale.
