Taylor's Hope spreading addiction, mental health awareness with new billboard

Taylor Miller was only 27 years old when she lost her battle to addiction and mental illness from an accidental fentanyl overdose, but before her death, Taylor had a mission to spread awareness on substance abuse and help recovering addicts. Four years after her death, Taylor's parents are continuing her mission through 'Taylor's Hope,' a local nonprofit that seeks to educate the public on substance abuse, mental illness and the dangers of drugs in our community. Ribbon cutting marks new ownership era for Brewerie at Union Station 'She had goals, you know, and she really wanted to achieve those goals just like everybody else. Unfortunately, her addiction was a tough battle for her, but she was courageous, and she shared her own addiction really just to help other people,' said Maria Miller, Taylor's Mom and founder of Taylor's Hope. Since founding Taylor's Hope in 2023, the Millers have been helping others battling addiction through awareness events, support groups and educational outreach. Recently, they have taken a new approach to convey their message, putting the faces of Erie victims lost too soon to drug abuse on billboards along Route 20 and Interchange Road. 'I think the message is that addiction doesn't discriminate. Drug use, no matter what kind of drug use, can be very lethal. It's a scary time right now with fentanyl and things like that going into some of these drugs,' said Miller. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox. His mother said anyone could be the face on that billboard, and all it takes is one pill. 'My boy was greater than the moment he died, period. As mothers and as families, we do not give birth hoping our children commit suicide, commit crimes, become drug addicts, and my boy was greater than that,' said Tammy Jo Rodgers, Tanner's mom.
