Eastern Washington continues to face intense heat, while the weekend promises pleasant weather for Father's Day and the Sounders game, with partly sunny skies and highs in the 70s. SEATTLE - After experiencing multiple days with highs skyrocketing well above average in Seattle, we're predicting a gradual cooling trend ahead. Puget Sound will see one more afternoon with highs in the 80s before milder weather stages a comeback on Wednesday. By the numbers Highs on the west side of the state will lift to the mid 70s to the low 80s for many. The coast will enjoy Mother Nature's A/C with highs in the 60s. In Eastern Washington, intense heat continues today. If you have family and friends in the highlighted communities below, check to make sure they are finding ways to stay cool. What's next Wednesday will be noticeably cloudier around the region with pleasant temperatures. A mixture of clouds can be expected on Thursday. Temperatures on Friday drop to the upper 60s. Dry weather will be on repeat. Into the weekend, highs will reach the 70s. For Father's Day (and the first Sounders game in the FIFA Club World Cup), the weather will hold up beautifully. Partly sunny skies are in store for the Emerald City. Dry weather will likely linger into next Monday but stay tuned for any changes. The weekend will feature cool, showery weather with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, while snow levels remain above 4,500 feet, avoiding winter weather issues at major mountain passes. SEATTLE - The first "real" rain of the month will hit Thursday afternoon, with more rain on the way through the weekend. It has been a very dry month so far with only 0.04 inches of rain in the bucket at Sea-Tac. After a dry start to the day, light showers will move inland Thursday afternoon. These will become more widespread during the evening commute. Models are hinting that some spots in the central Puget Sound may benefit from the rain shadow of the Olympics. High temperatures will be much cooler on Thursday, in the mid 50s. With colder air in place, snow levels will be at around 4,500 feet, which is just above Stevens Pass. No winter weather issues are expected over the three main mountain passes: Stevens, Snoqualmie, and White. Friday will be more dry than wet most of the day, with more widespread showers returning by Friday evening. The weekend will bring a chance of a few quick-hitting thunderstorms on Saturday with cool, showery weather continuing into Sunday. The Brief We are back to typical seasonal temperatures for western Washington this week. Overall, conditions remain cloudy and a little damp. Showers are scattered, along with potential sunbreaks throughout the day. SEATTLE - For those hoping for warmer weather, you won't particularly enjoy the forecast this week. However, if you love the 60s and occasional showers, this week is for you! Later today, we're forecasting highs in the low to mid 60s, which is close to the average for this time of year for Seattle. You can expect partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies. Cloud cover will vary neighborhood-by-neighborhood and throughout the day. There's a small chance of a light shower, especially over the mountains. Wednesday will feature a similar chance. Thursday and Friday look rather gray with cooler temperatures. There might be an isolated, weak shower from time-to-time. SEATTLE - A low pressure system off the Washington Coast will continue to spin in showers through Friday, but a drier weekend is ahead. Rain showers will continue through most of the daylight hours Friday, with highs slightly cooler than normal for late-March, in the low to mid 50s. The system will move north tonight and rain will taper off after sunset. What's next Saturday will be more dry than wet, with a few showers lingering. Sunday will be a very nice day with dry conditions, morning sunshine and afternoon clouds. The next wet system will arrive Sunday evening. Early next work week will bring another round of showers and average temperatures. A longer stretch of drier and warmer weather is possible late next week.
