Read Across America Week celebrates reading and reinforces the importance of reading for young children.
'Reading is an essential skill for children and we start reading to children when they're born, but it's so important because when they're in kindergarten, first grade they're learning to read and then when they're in third grade and up they're reading for content,' said Dr. Barber-Carey.
Barber-Carey thanked the community for supporting the institute every year for this event.
