Lego fans have block party at MassMutual Center in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Brick Convention calls itself 'the Greatest Lego Fan Event on Earth.' Lego fans can find out for themselves Sunday, May 25, when the convention concludes its two-day run with a session at 9 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. at the MassMutual Center. Brick Convention returns to Springfield with stunning LEGO displays
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The greatest Lego fan event on earth returns to Springfield. 22News got to preview it ahead of the big weekend, with some of the greatest Lego masters there are. Flying back into Mass Mutual Center once again–The Brick Convention, setting the stage all weekend long. A dream for builders, including one you may know, Patrick Durham from season three of Lego Masters. Durham told 22News, 'My grandparents raised me as a little boy to go fishing in the 70s I tried to play golf im left hanbded I swing right handed so golf is not in the picture and I dont like rocking chairs so December of 2017 I began on my Lego journey by gifting myself the little start wars bb8 set.' Durham says he spends about 65-hours finishing a piece. Each one, created without a handbook, but with his own creativity, giving each one a story. Lego master builder Tom Jacobsen told 22News, 'We've got a bunch of local talent here showing off their local art. We've got activities for both kids and adults for building and making mosaics.' Lego masters have all kinds of displays, some have even created something like a bow tie that you can wear. Many are still wondering if the Lego life is for them. The pros say that those feeling inspired can just get started with no experience needed. 'Go buy a 3-in-1 set,' says Durham. 'You just built three things using instructions out of those pieces in front of you, now ask yourself, what am I going to build on my own?' Brick Convention takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Rhode Island Brick Convention returns
WEST WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Brick Convention returns to West Warwick this weekend. This is its third year of the event, held at the West Warwick Civic Center, and featured special guests and some elaborate set builds. The annual event raises money for 'Creations for Charity'. Lego Artists Prepare for Brick Convention This Weekend
WACO, Texas (FOX 44) — For the first time ever, Waco will be hosting the 'Brick Convention,' an event where LEGO enthusiasts of all ages can marvel at the works of dozens of talented LEGO artists. This weekend, the community will have the opportunity to view incredible LEGO creations, including models inspired by pop culture, architecture, and more. Among the featured artists is AC Pin, a LEGO builder who has been crafting with the iconic plastic bricks for 25 years. His journey started with a Star Wars piece, and today, he is known for his intricate designs and mastery of the craft. 'I didn't realize that my early creations, like this particular seed hanger, would attract so much attention,' Pin recalled. 'In fact, LEGO even asked my permission to feature it in their Lego Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary book.' From that book appearance to having his work showcased in the LEGO House in Denmark, Pin's passion for LEGO has opened doors to incredible opportunities. 'It all started as a hobby, and now I'm being invited to shows around the world,' he said, reflecting on his journey from casual builder to recognized LEGO artist. Fellow builder Robert Rodriguez, who has been creating with LEGO for ten years, is excited to have the convention come so close to his hometown of Temple, Texas. 'I'm very excited because I'm actually from Temple and there's no conventions relatively close.' Rodriguez has built models of ancient Roman landscapes, towering skyscrapers, and more. As he continues to explore the world of LEGO, he looks forward to seeing where the hobby takes him next. Both Pin and Rodriguez encourage attendees to tap into their own creativity by starting with a simple LEGO set. 'I hope that it inspires them to buy a set and just try it. I mean, if you're not a Lego fan, just buy a said that fascinates you,' Rodriguez said, expressing his hope for attendees. 'Lego is a hobby that kind of expands and has so many themes that you can pick your spot,' Pin added. 'But if you like cars or just plain collecting the sets, it's all good,' The event will provide a unique opportunity for LEGO lovers to connect, share their passion, and perhaps even inspire the next generation of master builders.
