Pedestrian injured after being struck by fleeing vehicle in Bridgeport
A pedestrian was struck by a fleeing vehicle in Bridgeport on Friday evening, officials said. Officers responded to the intersection of East Main Street and Bass Pro Drive around 9:15pm on Friday on a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle, according to the Bridgeport Police Department. Police said the vehicle fled the scene. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition, according to police. The crash remains under investigation. Bridgeport gangster gets 25 years for a murder, multiple shootings and racketeering offenses
A member of a violent Bridgeport drug gang was sentenced to 25 years in prison in federal court Monday for killing a rival gangster and a rash of other shootings as part of a continuing fight for control of the city drug trade. Federal prosecutors said Trevon Wright, 23, a member of Bridgeport's East End Gang, was charged with racketeering in connection with a multi-law enforcement agency investigation of gang violence. The prosecutors said that, on Aug. 23, 2019, Wright shot and wounded a rival gangster and his girlfriend; shot another gangster a month later; shot and tried to kill another rival in December 2019 and shot and killed Myreke Kenion in January 2020. Wright and other East End members are accused of at least six murders as part of a racketeering conspiracy that involved selling heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana and Percocet pills as well as using guns to protect the business. They also are accused of trying to intimidate potential witnesses against them. Prosecutors said the gang celebrated their crimes on Facebook and YouTube, something that has proven to be of value to law enforcement. Bridgeport Police, with assistance from state and federal law enforcement, opened a federal investigation shortly before the Kenion's murder. The day after Kenion's death, rival gangsters retaliated against Wright's gang in a brazen, day-time gun fight outside the Golden Hill courthouse in Bridgeport that wounded four gangsters sitting in a parked car. A jury convicted Wright and three associates, in December 2023, of conspiring to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity. Wright has been locked up since January 2021. Authorities said at least 47 Bridgeport gangsters have been convicted of federal offenses as a result of the investigation that led to Wright's sentencing. They said the investigation has cleared eight murders and 20 attempted murders.

Police identify CT man killed in hit-and-run crash in Bridgeport
A man is dead after the vehicle he was driving was struck during a hit-and-run crash in Bridgeport over the weekend. A police officer patrolling the city spotted the crash at the intersection of Barnum Avenue and Harriet Street where a man identified as 53-year-old Andrew Scarlett of Bridgeport, was suffering from serious injuries, according to Tiadora Josef, director of public information and emergency management for the City of Bridgeport. Scarlett was rushed in an ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, Josef said. According to Josef, the Bridgeport Serious Crash Investigation Team responded to investigate. A preliminary investigation found that Scarlett was driving a 2000 Saturn SC2 west on Barnum Avenue and was struck while going through the intersection at Harriet Street. The vehicle that struck the Saturn was identified as a 2013 Hyundai Sonata with North Carolina license plates HCZ1398, Josef said. Multiple people in the Sonata got out and fled the area after the collision, according to Josef. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Officer A.
