If you're cooling a small or medium room, stretching might not get you much more. What matters is choosing a model that works for your space, not just what sounds fancy. In this range, a no nonsense AC can be all you really need. • Cooling capacity: Match the tonnage to your room size. Around 0.8 to 1 ton is enough for rooms up to 120 sq. ft. Anything larger will underperform. • Compressor type: Prefer inverter compressors if available in your budget. They adjust power based on heat load and can lower your electricity bills over time. • 100% Copper coil: Look for models with a copper condenser coil. They're more durable, easier to maintain, and handle heat better than aluminium ones. • High ambient cooling: Check if the AC can work in temperatures above 45°C. This is important if you live in a region that faces extreme summer heat. • Convertible modes: Some models now offer 4-in-1 or 5-in-1 cooling modes. These aren't gimmicks; they let you adjust power usage depending on the day. • Air filters: If you live in a city or have allergies, check for PM 2.5 or anti-viral filters. They help reduce indoor dust and pollutants. • Energy rating: A 3 star rated AC gives a decent balance between upfront cost and power usage. Go higher if you use ACs longer each day. • Noise levels: Quiet operation matters, especially in bedrooms. Look for ACs that mention low indoor unit noise in specs. Under 40 dB is ideal. Cheniere Energy Inks 15-Year LNG Deal With Canadian Natural
Cheniere Energy, Inc. LNG recently announced that in order to secure future liquefied natural gas ('LNG') volumes, it has entered into a long-term Integrated Production Marketing ('IPM') agreement with Canadian Natural Resources Limited CNQ. The deal, made through Cheniere Marketing, LLC, underscores a deepening partnership between upstream gas producers and global LNG marketers. Under the IPM agreement, a subsidiary of CNQ will supply 140,000 million British Thermal Units of natural gas per day to Cheniere Marketing over a 15-year term, starting in 2030. CNQ will serve as the guarantor for the agreement. The resulting LNG, amounting to approximately 0.85 million tons per annum (mtpa), will be marketed by Cheniere Marketing. Cheniere, currently carrying a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold), will pay a price linked to the Platts Japan Korea Marker, net of fixed shipping and liquefaction costs, ensuring pricing transparency and market alignment. This IPM agreement is contingent upon a positive Final Investment Decision ('FID') for Cheniere's Sabine Pass Liquefaction Expansion Project (SPL Expansion Project). The company, through its partners, is developing an expansion adjacent to the SPL Project, known as the SPL Expansion Project, with an anticipated production capacity of up to approximately 20 mtpa of LNG, including potential debottlenecking opportunities. By securing feed gas supply through long-term contracts, Cheniere is positioning itself to meet growing demand in Asia's LNG markets and enhance the commercial viability of expansion plans. In February 2024, certain subsidiaries of Cheniere Partners submitted applications to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for site approval to construct and operate the SPL Expansion Project. Additionally, these subsidiaries applied to the Department of Energy ('DOE') for authorization to export LNG to both Free Trade Agreement ('FTA') and non-FTA countries, excluding debottlenecking activities. In October 2024, the DOE granted authorization to export LNG to FTA countries. The development of this expansion project requires regulatory approvals and acceptable commercial and financing arrangements before the company makes a positive FID. Therefore, this deal with Canadian Natural Resources will serve as a base to secure a positive FID. GAIL sees scope for more US LNG share in India's energy mix as prices attractive
New Delhi: As India and the US negotiate a trade deal, chairman and managing director of state-run gas utility GAIL Ltd Sandeep Kumar Gupta said that there is potential for import of more liquefied natural gas (LNG) from America and increase its share in India's energy basket. Addressing the media on Tuesday, Gupta said that at current prices, import of natural gas from the US "makes good sense". Currently, the spot price of natural gas at Henry Hub, US, is around $3.4 per MMBtu (Million British Thermal Units). Gupta said that prices are expected to remain in a range of $3.5-4 per MMBtu in the near term. Also read: GAIL Dividend: Maharatna PSU announces 10% dividend along with Q4 results. Check details here Henry Hub serves as the official delivery location for natural gas futures contracts traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange. This makes it a crucial benchmark for North American natural gas prices. "We already have a very attractive portfolio. In our old portfolio, 5.8 trillion tonne is coming from the US. There is great potential for other players also to increase their offtakes from the US. And at country level, I think we have a great appetite for US LNG. If the HH (Henry Hub) prices are say around $3.4 to $4 which is the present range, I think this makes a good sense in importing US volumes. There is a great flexibility if we contact on FOB (freight on board) basis, because we can swap the US cargos also at an opportune time, so we believe there is a great potential," Gupta said. This comes at a time when India and the US are holding talks for a bilateral trade agreement and India is expected to increase its oil and gas imports from the US. GAIL last month floated a tender seeking up to 26% stake in a US LNG project, bundled with a 15-year LNG supply contract. GAIL's latest tender is a revival of a similar process kicked off by the public sector entity in FY23. It was stalled when the erstwhile US administration put a freeze on new LNG export permits for projects in 2024. On Tuesday, the company reported a 1.26% uptick in its consolidated net profit for the January-March quarter to ₹2,505.61 crore. Its net profit during the same period of the previous fiscal (FY24) was ₹2,474.31 crore. Its total income during the fourth quarter of FY25 rose 11.71% on a year-on-year basis to ₹36,943.51 crore. For FY25, its consolidated net profit jumped 26% to ₹12,462.87 crore, and its revenue rose 6.3% to ₹1.31 trillion. Also read: Indian Oil signs $1.4 billion LNG supply deal with Trafigura Its board of directors has recommended a final dividend of ₹1 per equity share, with a face value of ₹10 per equity share for the financial year 2024-25, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM). This is in addition to the interim dividend of ₹6.50 per equity share. The company incurred a capital expenditure of ₹10,512 crore during FY25. During the year, its natural gas transmission volume grew 6% to 127.32 mmscmd (million standard cubic meter per day) as against 120.46 mmscmd in FY24. Gas marketing volume stood at 101.49 mmscmd in FY25, compared to 98.45 mmscmd in FY24.

1 ton, 1.5 tons, and 2 tons: What is the meaning of ton in AC? It is not weight but..., how does it work?
New Delhi: The summer season has now arrived in India. Many people will be preparing to buy a new AC this season. There are several factors to consider before purchasing a new AC. One of them is tonnage. You may have heard this term many times. Many people might think of it as weight. However, it is not weight. So what exactly does it mean, and why is it important for buyers to understand it? Let's find out. In an air conditioner, 'ton' refers not to the weight of the AC unit, but rather its cooling capacity. It is a measurement of how much heat can be removed from a place in one hour. Understanding 'ton' in AC: 1 ton of cooling = 12,000 British Thermal Units (BTU) per hour. 1-ton AC removes 12,000 BTU/hour. 1.5-ton AC removes 18,000 BTU/hour. 2-ton AC removes 24,000 BTU/hour. Why does 'ton' matter to buyers? Choosing the right tonnage model while selecting an AC is essential for energy efficiency, cooling performance, and cost savings. Here's why. This concept is related to the amount of heat required to melt one ton (2,000 pounds) of ice in 24 hours. Room Size and Cooling Efficiency The tonnage should match the room size. 0.8-1-ton AC – for small rooms (100-150 square feet). 1.5-ton AC – for medium-sized rooms (150-250 square feet). 2 tons or more – for large rooms (250+ square feet). If the AC is too small, there will be cooling issues, and the electricity bill will increase. If it's too large, it will cool quickly but not control humidity. An appropriately sized AC consumes less electricity, leading to lower bills. High-star rated ACs (such as 5-star models) consume less power in the same tonnage, resulting in savings over time. In hot and humid areas, a model with a slightly higher tonnage is required. In areas with less usage, a lower tonnage might be sufficient. This means that overall, 'ton' in AC refers to cooling capacity, not weight. Choosing the right tonnage model based on room size, climate, and energy efficiency ensures better cooling and cost-effectiveness. Buyers should accurately assess their needs to avoid buying an AC that is either too large or too small.

IGC launches Oman's first gas spot sale of 2025
MUSCAT: Integrated Gas Company (IGC), the sole aggregator and supplier of natural gas in the Sultanate of Oman, has invited bids for its first spot sale of natural gas for the current year. A Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the wholly state-owned energy firm on Sunday seeks offers for the supply of 175,000 MMBTUs (million British Thermal Units) per day of natural gas for a period of one to two years. The announcement builds on landmark initiatives by IGC to maximise revenue generation for the Omani government through gas marketing activities encompassing spot sales and short-term gas supply auctions. Both initiatives are also aimed at providing large industrial customers with greater flexibility and efficiency in their purchase and consumption of natural gas. Interested customers have until March 30, 2025 to submit applications in response to the RFP. 'All interested parties are welcome to participate in this auction. Don't miss out on this opportunity to secure a valuable contract with IGC,' the energy firm note in a post. Last year, IGC successfully added gas marketing activities to its central mandate as the sole shipper of Omani natural gas. In line with this remit, it signed a first-ever spot gas sales contract with Octal, the Salalah-based polyethylene manufacturer, in August 2024. Under the deal, IGC committed to supplying 15,000 standard m3 per day of natural gas for four months. Also during the same month, IGC announced the first auction of short-term gas supplies. On offer were around 9,000 MMBTU per day (approx 9 million standard cubic feet/day — mmsfd) of gas to be supplied to one or more successful bidders for a period ranging from one to two years. Interested bidders were required to submit offers that were an improvement upon a minimum price set by IGC. Set up as a state-owned enterprise under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, IGC represents the government's interests in the management of all allocations, assets, rights and obligations of natural gas purchase, sales, transport, imports and exports, as well as all relevant products. IGC is also tasked with contributing to Oman's fiscal performance by shouldering all expenses related to gas purchase and transport from the State Budget. Part of its remit is to transfer net gas revenue to the treasury as well. 2022 © All right reserved for Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
