Chatham-Kent council to vote on community hub
Chatham-Kent council is set to vote on a proposed multi-million-dollar community hub in Chatham on Monday.
Chatham-Kent council will gather on Monday to vote on whether or not to proceed with a proposed multi-million-dollar community hub. The hub would be in downtown Chatham.
The project would consolidate municipal services, putting them into one spot.
'We're at a point where there is no do-nothing option,' said Brock McGregor, Ward 6 Councillor in Chatham-Kent.
'So, there's no option to just spend no money and do nothing. We're at a place where we might have to do an emergency renovation of the Civic Centre if things get worse. There's a significant cost there.'
Supporters are saying it would be a long-term investment to help revitalize the downtown, but not everyone agrees.
Some councillors have voiced their opinions, saying the cost is too high and the plan is too ambitious.
