2nd Mass. man arrested in the theft of high-end vehicles in Exeter
A second person has been arrested in connection to the theft of high-end vehicles from Foss Motors in Exeter last year, according to local police. Exeter police were notified on Tuesday that police in Brockton, Mass., arrested Nelshon Luis Pires, 19, of Brockton on an arrest warrant from Exeter. He was charged with a felony count of theft and is being held pending extradition back to New Hampshire, according to a news release. The arrest comes months after another man, Alberto Marbert, 33, of Tewksbury, Mass., was also arrested on thefts from the local dealership in February. The investigation started on May 31, 2024, after the dealership was hit for a second time. Pires was charged in connection with the theft of a white 2024 Dodge Durango SRT 392 and a gray 2021 Dodge Durango SRT in February 2024. Each SUV was valued at $50,000. Marbert was charged in connection with the theft of a white 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody and a red 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, which were taken from the lot at Foss Motors on Feb. 17, 2024. The vehicles were valued at more than $76,000 and later recovered in Boston. Chief Stephan Poulin applauded the department's Criminal Investigative Division and specifically Detective John Suglia's efforts in the investigation, which have led to the two arrests. 'His ability to parse out evidence and to work closely with outside agencies such as our State and Federal partners has been critical to success. We also recognize and appreciate all of the efforts of the Brockton Police Department with this recent arrest,' he said in a statement. The case remains under investigation. Brockton Police Junior Cadet program lets kids experience law enforcement. How to sign up
BROCKTON - Some kids play sports for fun, while others are captivated by crime shows and the world of law enforcement. For those with an interest in criminal justice, the Brockton Police Department is offering a unique opportunity to explore that passion firsthand. This summer, the department will be hosting a special program where kids can learn what it's truly like to work in law enforcement. The brochure reads, "The Junior Cadet program provides first-hand experiences and insight into the operations of law enforcement. This program also affords these highly motivated young people an opportunity to consider law enforcement as a potential career choice." The Junior Cadet Program is recruiting Brockton residents, ages 14 to 16 years old. There are two sessions to choose from: July 7 to 11 and August 4 to 8. You can sign up online. On the Brockton Police Department website, it said, "Brockton Police Junior Cadets spend a week of training during the summer with the men and women of the Brockton Police Department. The kids learn about radar and traffic enforcement from our Traffic Enforcement and Control Unit Officers. By the end of the week, these 14-16 year-olds will have studied criminal law, learned first aid/CPR, bike safety, and are shown presentations from specialized units."
